Rudolph the Red Nosed Tesla

Gail and I are thinking you might like to see how the Festive Season is shaping up in our neck of the woods.

Let's go for a wee stroll around the neighbourhood.

Aberdonians are not in general given to ostentatious display. Here, the low key but lovely tradition is to put a Christmas tree in one's bay window, so it can be admired from the street.

Of course, there's always one household that doesn't quite grasp the concept of the modest and tasteful display.

And what did we find right next door to this extravaganza? Oh dear, I fear someone might be feeling rather deflated, having been outshone by the competition...

The local paper shop has made a bit of an effort. Gail says anything to distract from content of the newspapers this year is probably a good idea...

Further along the street, we see a practical illustration of the proposition that in the UK, worship of the Health Service has become the national religion.

Gail and I are both rather fond of this cheerful reindeer fellow, all poised to greet visitors to the house a few doors up from ours. He may not be aware that household mixing is banned right now.

Nearby, another reindeer, rather a pretty one, is shyly prancing behind net curtains in an upstairs window.

And finally, we are proud to present our new close neighbour, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Tesla, surely the coming thing in environmentally friendly present delivery.

Sadly, he appears only to have one antler.

  4. It looks all looks lovely Bertie - such pretty trees.
My human doesn't bother much these days, but we do get a very modern tree, shaped like a pyramid and covered in tiny white lights, and a couple of twiggy things (also covered in lights), but that's about it. Just thought - there's nowhere to put any presents! Oh dear!

  5. I am doing a happy dance walking down your street. I love to see where others live and your tradition is the one USA had when I was growing up. the tree in the window was it for decor on the outside. and sometimes a wreath on the front door.. i much prefer this over the over decorated houses we see here now. you are a beautiful addition to the door stoops and looking at the rudolph. I was in the dollar store a couple weeks ago and hear a man ask the cashier if they had antlers for cars. no was the answer and now I know what he was asking for.. thanks for the walk down your street

  6. OMDs Bertie you and Gail have delighted my mind's eye with lots of Bright and Merry homes. I love the ceiling in the 3rd photo.. each photo shines alone but I purrsonally think a WFT makes each photo pop with cheer. Yikes that well lit house looks like the one next door to us. The inflatables are in a puddle.
Rudolph the Red nosed Tesla is quite handsome too, but I'm thinking maybe they need a WFT SpokesDog promotional purposes!!

  7. I agree with Molly the Airedale, the trees with white lights are lovely. The tree in the first photo (yours, I assume, Bertie), pulled at my heart strings and made me want to rush out and get a small tree....Lovely, lovely, lovely.

  9. We seem to have lights around....solar lights. At least Oz has finally come to terms that a white Christmas is out, not many snowflakes around. But it's enjoyable to look at the lights on the Early Morning Walks.

  10. I love the shiny trees in the windows. My favorite part of driving around the city in the winter, is looking at the house displays and all of the trees in the apartment windows. It's so magical. I'm also a fan of tasteful, elegant displays. Thanks Bertie :)

  12. That family must have seen one too many episodes of National Lampoon Christmas Vacation:) We like the more reservedly decorated homes, but that Tesla is extra special. We wonder if he can lead us to Santa Paws.

  17. We love seeing Christmas trees in people's front windows! We can't do that with our tree, because we only have one front-facing window, and that's in the guest room that Momma keeps closed off.

  18. Hi friend! Ojo here! A missing antler is a problem indeed. Also that looks very festive. Also you are just as handsome in the city as in the countryside!
