Seaside thoughts

A Contemplation

It doesn't have to be a beauty spot,
It might be somewhere just nearby,
An undistinguished stretch of North Sea coast
Where you can sit, and contemplate the sea and sky.

It matters not if you're just starting out
On life's great journey, or you're near the end,
To stop and meditate on nature's power,
Will calm your heart, and help your sorrows mend.

Do go and take a peek at the other Nature Friday posts in the LLB Gang's evergreen blog hop.

  6. That made my mom cry. She lived in Germany for 10 years and on the North Sea Coast the last 3 of those. There was a bench by the lighthouse on the dike where she sad a lot with her first dog. She also sat there on the day she had to let that dog go. They spent time there together looking at the North Sea, reminiscing over their time together before they went to the vet. It's a good poem, and bringing back such memories is a good thing...just a bit wet.

  10. Your poem is very touching, Bertie. I, who have never seen the North Sea, would find its coastline anything but undistinguished. I traveled to Wales (via London) in 2014....and had dreams of trying to make it to Aberdeen, to take a walk with you and Gail. Then I realized how far away it was!

  12. Bertie your so called "undistinguished stretch of North Sea coast" is a million times more beautiful than any section of our Lake Ontario coast. We are jealous of your views and absolutely love your poem.
