Er, but what's it FOR?

In her ongoing, though intermittent, project to upgrade her needlework skills, Gail has been experimenting  with 'duplicate stitch', a technique which involves sewing a pattern or picture on top of a piece of plain knitting. This is her first effort.

If anyone can think of a use for this item, which is about 8" by 8", please let us know!

(And in case you were wondering, I think it's supposed to be a wire-haired fox terrier...)

  2. That's very clever, Bertie, and you're a lucky boy to have Gail practise with a picture of you. Of course we know who it is, and a pocket for treats seems a really good idea!

Oh it is patently a pawtrait of your own handsome self, Bertie!!! Give Gail some credit, lad. Now... with a bit of quilting fleece and fabric attached to the back, that would make one very fine pot holder... hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  5. My first thought was a hot pot holder just like dams described but I like the pocket idea also. And it does look exactly like you and I wish I could so like that or even make the square. If you lived with me you would never see me with a needle in my hand of any kind. But I would take lots of pictures. Great job Gail! You can make about a hundred more of them and make a quilt to throw on the sofa or the bed

  6. Gail did a great job recreating you on that knit square. Maybe she could make a throw pillow out of it. We can't tell how big it is but you could add some borders to it to make it big enough for a cushion cover.

  13. Oh I loves it! I likes that idea! Ma could even do that! She thanks you for the inspiration!
Nows, what to do with it....wells, if you wanted a practical use, you could attach some felt, and make it a trivet, or you could sew it onto an accent pillow. Or you could sew it onto your knitting bag as a pocket for notions.
What ever you decide, it is FABulous!
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥
