And I was only trying to help...

So there I was, relaxing on the sofa the other evening, when I became aware of Gail moving around in odd positions on the floor and I suddenly remembered her complaining to a friend about how she found it both boring and lonely having to do her Pilates class online.

There are occasions which demand a dog.

Bertie to the rescue!

First I followed the instructor for a minute or two, to see what it was all about.

Having become an expert in both technique and terminology, I carefully checked Gail's positioning (neutral spine, pelvic floor engaged, tummy button to floor, no flaring of the ribs, headlights forward etc.)

Oh dear, there's something a little wrong with your position here. I need to check you're working those deep abdominals... and please remember to imagine that soft peach under your chin...

For some reason my interventions were not appreciated, so I decided to provide a bit of entertainment instead, to liven thing up.

Yes you've guessed it. Still not appreciated.

There's no pleasing some folk.

  1. Bertie, I'll bet you could show Gail better stretching movements than they have online too!

Such a shame you weren't appreciated.

  4. Well Bertie, that was wasted effort wasn't it? I'm glad my human doesn't do Pilates, if that's all the appreciation one gets when trying to help.

    Love,

  5. Bertie and Gail you two have tickled my funny bone. Bertie sometimes all you can do is try you know like the saying goes you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink.
I feel very soon Gail will appreciate your help and the fact that she is not on the floor ALONE

  7. We don't understand why Gail didn't appreciate your help with her exercises, Bertie. At least you were entertaining too.

  8. I'm doing wild clapping for both of you that you can get down on the floor and wave your arms and legs around and get back up because if I got on the floor it would require a fireman of super strength to get me up. It looks like we all think you are very entertaining and that you did a very good imitation of Pilates. Deer Gail please show a little appreciation to your helper Love Beau

  10. Your person on the floor is an open invitation to a game! Sounds like some livening up was called for. Sorry your assistance wasn't appreciated.

  12. Bertie, we so understand how you are feeling unappreciated. When Mom hurt her back a few years ago, she had all these exercises to do on the floor. And with her broken arm, she had a few weight lifting ones to try. For some reason she was very unappreciative of our efforts to encourage her with our sloppy kisses:)

  16. Hahahaha, you made my mom remember how whenever she tried to do some floor exercises, how me and Kiki would get very confused and try to kiss her!
