You can't fool me

So we are in the park early. Gail says it's to enjoy the sunrise.

Frankly I would have stayed cuddled up in bed a little longer.

Back home, I observe a familiar sequence of preparations before Gail disappears for a few hours.

I settle down on the sofa and patiently wait.

When Gail returns she murmurs endearments, says sorry she was out so long, and I get an affectionate ear scritch.

But she doesn't look or sound sorry. And the hi-vis jacket is a dead giveaway, confirming my suspicions that my owner abandoned me in favour of going for a bicycle ride with a friend.

And her rosy cheeks and cheery demeanour are frankly rather irritating.

You'd think, Bertie lad, that Gail would have learned this lesson by now. The least she could have done is remove the jacket before scritchies - though I guess the rosies and cheeries would still have been major markers!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  2. OH NO, she did NOT! go out without you? How could she? next time she does this remember she is making her self healthy so she can spend the rest of her time playing with you and giving you scritches.... love that sunrise and YOU

  3. Bertie OMDs you stayed snuggly and warm in your bed, your furs were dry and your paws not wet...I say that is a win win this time of year. I think what Gail means is she was sorry she was not smart enough to stay inside with you. Mixed emotions I'm sure as we know she loves cycling and socializing with her cycle buds

  4. We almost didn't see you in the sunrise picture, Bertie. It's too bad Gail can't take you with her on her biking adventure. Maybe she should get one of those trailers so she could pull her on her rides.

  5. My goodness - it must have been really early - we had to look really hard to see you in that first photo, Bertie.
My human doesn't often go out without me, but when she does, I snuggle up on my duvet, by the radiator in the kitchen. Then I'm given a treat and told to look after the house, and that my human won't be long! I have to stay in the kitchen because the burglar alarm is on in the other rooms, so usually I just have a nice sleep!
I also get another treat when she comes home!

    Love,
    Inca xx

  8. Well, we hope maybe you got a walk later in the day, Bertie. We haven't had a walk in days, partly due to weather and partly due to Mom's bum knee:(

  12. At least she took you out first and at sunrise. These days our Lady often takes us out before sunrise.

  13. Oh Bertie. Those darn humans - they cannot be trusted! But the sunrise was nice, wasn't it?

  14. We don't like getting up before the dawn. Waking up in the dark is just wrong. But it did give you a pretty picture so I am sure it was worth it.

  15. That's the best snout shot ever! Or, as we often call it, a peppa shot. "Peppa" is a made up word for "snout" in Italian that we often use in expressions such as "this dog is totally peppa-based".

  16. Awww, you look so happy and forgiving to Gail after her leaving you alone! But I am sure you at least got a great nap in while she was away, right?
