Lamest ever lockdown project?

I suspect I'm not the only pup whose human has lately been passing their excess time at home in less than impressive ways.

So last weekend, did Gail decide to start mastering a musical instrument?

She did not.

Did she finally get around to painting the spare bedroom?

No way.

Perhaps she learnt a Shakespeare sonnet or two off by heart?

Er, I don't think so.

I'll tell you what she did. She hauled a tattered plastic bag out of the cupboard and emptied the contents on the floor.

And announced, as if I would be interested, that today's project was going to be to sort out the knitting needle collection she's assembled over the past half century. Apparently the collection even includes some relics inherited from her Granny. This is the thrilling tale of how it went:

Step 1: Pair up the needles.

Step 2: Wonder how on earth there came to be so many unmatched pairs. Spend next half hour in a futile search for the missing items.

Step 3: Deploy the recently rediscovered sewing machine and fashion a bespoke knitting needle organiser.

Step 4: Neatly wrap up newly sorted needle collection ready for next knitting project.

Fellow pups, I'm wondering if your human can beat this for 'lamest ever lockdown activity'? Please tell me yours has been busy with something a bit more worthwhile...

Er Gail, I'm ready for my walk now.

PS: The real tragedy is quite how pleased and proud Gail was after she'd completed this effort!

  1. Bertie we hear ya... instead to bake or to cook something for us SHE decided to mess up the kitchen with new wallpapers & paint... that is really like watching how da paint dries, right?

  2. I decided to darn my husband's favourite jersey. The one he can't bear to throw away because it is so comfortable. Needless to say it took me sometime before I got I got bored. There is always tomorrow to finish the rest of the holes.

Bertie lad, I have to say I'm with Gail on this one. What an excellent project. And I am sure you got your walkies as well... so none of this 'poor me', okay??? Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

    1. Your comments are always welcome, whatever time of day or night. We hope the power cut did not cause too much inconvenience.

  5. Well Bertie, my human says she can hardly criticise Gail's project. In fact she thinks it's an excellent idea and Gail is to be commended on her enthusiasm, and her excellent design of the knitting needle organiser. Just think, when she comes to knit you your next woolly coat for the winter, she'll know exactly where to find the right needles!
You see, we have something similar on the go here - sorting out the "Artist's" equipment. Paints, brushes, canvases, sketchbooks, all about half way through the re-organisation. Sadly it's been left now, for work in the garden! Still, I shouldn't complain - she does throw me the odd tennis ball!

    Love,
    Inca xx

  6. First of all Bertie...good morning and thank you for documenting every single moment of Gail's
COVID19 life. I'm very proud of Gail for continuing to rediscover her hidden talents in the Sewing Department. And might I add the design of the knitting needle pouch. I say 87 bravos!! Perhaps you are a bit jealous..
because it took her attention away from you?!
This is by no means a lame lockdown activity.

As for what I've been doing. My project has been to go thru all my parent's photo albums to organize and identify people in the photos for the next generation. LOL Tomorrow on my Poetry post you'll see 2 such photos.

  8. Bertie our mom thinks Gail did a great job on organizing and creating an organizer for her needles. It does look like a boring project to us though.

  9. Wow, Bertie, that is one of the best organizing projects I have ever seen——although I confess, at first glance, I thought Gail was playing "Pick-up Sticks" to pass the time!

    1. Gail playing "Pick up Sticks" with Bertie was our first thought too!

  10. Oh, I gots to say, I thinks it was a FABulous project Bertie! Or, should I say, MA thinks it was a FABulous project! And, she is a wee bit jealous of the FABulous outcome! As for Ma's project...she's been crocheting a blanket that she will never really use (cause she realized that the yarn she used wasn't very soft ☺), so it's gonna be flung over the sofa. useless. sigh. next ~ she is gonna bake a pie! hey, when the house burns down, can I come lives with you and Gail???
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

  11. Oh yes, humans are ever so silly sometimes...as you might remember, our Mama did this with her whole craft/photo prop room. Our question is, why do they feel the need to dump everything on the floor?? Where are we suppose to perch to snoopervise?

  12. Can't think of anything SHE's done that is even that arduous. It's raining here, so the car has been pulled out of the carport to get washed.

  13. Well, ours spends a lot of time with little odd-shaped pieces and trying to fit them together, then cursing when she has a few pieces missing:) She is actually very impressed with that knitting needle case and says she could use one for her crochet hooks that she keeps in a ziploc bag:)

  15. Oh my goodness, Bertie, you had me laughing and laughing and laughing! I have a lot of projects like that one to do... but, ahem, I'm still busy procrastinating!

  16. Lady thinks what Gail did is excellent. She can see why Gail would be proud. Lady was Christmas morning excited about groceries this week. That was a little lame.

  17. We think that is a wonderful project! To each her own, right? Our Mom can't figure out WHY anyone would have so many needles, but there must be a good reason!
