Wheelie dog or Rottweiler?

I've noticed, when out for walks in these times of social-distancing, that when people see me trotting down the pavement, they often cross to the opposite side of the street.

Is this what it feels to be a Rottweiler, or other breed with a reputation for being fierce?

How much I preferred it when folk would stop by to pat me, say isn't he cute and tell me I reminded them of the toy pup on wheels they had as a child.

Bertie lad, it must seem all very strange to you... but be assured, it is a courtesy in these strange times and not an indictment against your good character!!! Hugs and wgas, YAM-aunty xxx

    1. Gail says: this morning when walking to the park, two other dog walkers were conducting a conversation, each stood on the pavement on opposite sides of the street, so we ended up walking down the middle of the road. Fortunately there are almost no cars around at the moment.

  3. Never mind Bertie, it happens to me too, now we don't even see anyone anymore. Just think how nice it will be when all this terrible time is over, and everyone wants to pet us again. I hope they will make up for it with lots of pats and even a few treats!
My human and I do share a whole lot of cuddles though, and I hope you and Gail do too.

    Love,
    Inca xx

  4. It's not you they're avoiding, Bertie. It's Gail!! Everyone knows dogs are safe.

  5. Bertie be glad Gail does not try that wheelie dog maneuver on you for I fear she would break your back.

  6. Bertie please tell Gail how very much Bryan and I enjoyed her comment today. Now you have me very interested in looking up the city in Nevada.

I know how very social you are Bertie and how cherished a pat on the head is to you. I did get a chuckle out of your reference to how the Rottie feels when folks move over. I had a wee bit first time I walked outside here at home.
Then it dawned on my social distancings.
Gail you have been a lover of WFT furever
    What beautiful photo from 1960!!

  7. We don't understand it either Bertie. It's too bad our pawrents couldn't let us go to the end of the leash so we could get pets from everyone. On the other paw we wouldn't want to have a bath every time we came home to make us safe for our pawrents to touch either.

  8. We ran into a man with 2 dogs this morning. His dogs are rescues and he has issues with them on the leash. We distanced ourselves down a driveway and let them pass. We run into pups now and again and the peeps keep their 6' distance and chitchat for 5 minutes. Mom loves her AireWheelie, Francesca. Love the photo of Gail and hers☺

    1. Gail thinks her wheelie dog was a present from her Granny, who once owned an Airedale terrier, and who lived most of her life in the Airedale region of Yorkshire.

  9. Yeah. Everyone looks at each other as if they are villains and moves away. I guess we need to just settle for pats and lovin from our peeps (at home).

  10. Arty especially agrees with you Bertie...He is used to sitting and being petted at least a few times during walkies. Mama has had to make sure he stays next to her and not to run up to people and sit for pets.

  11. We haven't had the pleasure of walking on the streets with Mom for way too long, but she says people cross the street when they see her coming - what the hack does that say about her??? BOL

  12. Awwwww...we've noticed the breed of the wheelie dog. (And we think the peeps are just distancing themselves from Gail.)

  13. For the first time this year and probably since the summer, we had to social distance on a walk. A guy got out of his car to get his mail and we were going to walk into him. Lady just waited and made us wait until he was spline and then we carried on.

  14. Oh Bertie. They still love you. In fact, they're just trying to avoid your human ;) I am sending you virtual pats. In our house, Hachi loves social distance and R hates it. Opposites.

  15. That happens to us too! but we are two that look like wolves, so maybe that's why...but you are so cute! Hopefully someday soon, we can all say hello to one another.
