A good day for waterfalls

The rain was lashing against the window of our cottage in the Northwest Highlands on Saturday morning and to be honest I would have been quite content to stay indoors in front of the fire all day.

For a while Gail did occupy herself with diary reading and writing, then at noon, this:

"Come on Bertie, there's only a few hours of daylight left. We really ought to get some fresh air and exercise. I know, let's go and check out the waterfalls around Loch Torridon, they will be looking quite impressive just now."

Having established that there was an adequate supply of 'posing treats' in Gail's jacket pocket, I reluctantly agreed to brave the ongoing downpour.

After a couple of hours, bedraggled and aware that Gail's pocket was now empty, I made it quite clear I'd had enough.

I hope you enjoyed looking at the pictures at least...

  7. YIKES Bertie...Gail asked a lot of you to traipse about in the cold rain. Those are some fierce looking white water rapids under the foot bridge. OMDs did I enjoy the most lovely photos.
AT LEAST, I hope, she didn't try to give you a bath afterwards.

  8. Why with those waterfalls if you fell in you could be washed out to the North Sea. Can you swim Bertie?

    1. I can swim, but would not fancy my chances given the likelihood of being dashed against the rocks by the raging torrent..

  9. It looks like you had a great time AND got to get your paws dirty! Bonus fun time!! We are going running in a bit. Our pawrents cannot ride their bikes cuz it is too cold. Mom says it needs to be above freezing AND sunny. (She crashed a week ago when she tried to ride on the ice and snow.)

    1. Hi Murphy,
We are super impressed by your Mom's cycling efforts (well Gail is anyway). But do tell her to stay safe. Riding on ice is generally not a good idea. The Norwegians use special studded tyres for riding on snow, but Norwegians can be a bit nuts...
      Toodle pip!

  10. Bertie, you don't know how nice it is to see WET...other than the few patches we have from the hose. Very hot and dry here.

  11. So it is pouring water from the skies AND you went to see waterfalls???? OK, we don't get it, but it looks like you had fun, and the waterfalls are very impressive. Hope you get some drier weather soon.

  14. First of all - you have a FIREPLACE!!! That is very lucky! I love those! I wish I had one. Also, I do not like how the rain gets in my eyes, but I still think I would have liked to be on that Walk with you. It looks like that place would have amazing sniffing! And it's kind of pretty for the eyes, too.
