BrewDog - the clue is in the name?

Did you know that here in NE Scotland we have a highly successful local craft beer company called BrewDog?

When I saw the name on the bottle, I thought for sure I'll be allowed a sip this time.

Sadly it was not to be.

Where is their canine-friendly beverage product?

I think they are missing a golden business opportunity.

  1. Perhaps the dead cow club....or dead sheep? But we think anything using the word dog should be for us!

  2. I love the name... my dad sometimes feels like a member of that club when he had some brewskies :o) But you're right, they should have beer for dogs too... and pubs just for pups :o)

OMD Bertie - would you beleive when I was over in Edin recently, my brother had a Brewdog bottle (diff variety)?! I had never heard of it till then and now you are sharing it - I agree that there is a gap in the market... something to work on when (WHEN) you get the ambassdogorial post? &*> Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  5. I routinely stole a couple of nips from the Reverend when he visited in Arizona. Muzzer didn't tell him but one eve I got a bit too exuberant and knocked the mug over! A good laugh was had by all. (Mum would come over and take me away, but she did warn him every time not to put his drink on the floor, and he just went ahead and ignored her.) Blessed man, he was.

  7. Sounds more like Gail's problem. The label CLEARLY says it's a brew for dogs!

  8. Im not sure if they have it in Scotland but in the USA there is an actual beer for dogs. I once bought some on the doggie deals website BUT it was not a hit every one of our dogs turned their noses up at it

  9. Bertie, Get Gail to google and get you some "Snuffle Dog Beer" which is sold on your side of the world. Then you can both enjoy a drink!

    1. I forgot to say I only know about dogs drinking beer as I read in the news (which got to New Zealand)a pub in Edinburgh (The Earl of Marchmount) has a special menu for dogs and even and serves beers to dogs! Bertie, I'm not sure what the drinking age is for a young pup like you, but if you become ambassadog then perhaps you could post a review of Scottish drinking establishments as part of your duties e.g. quality of drinking bowl provided, amount of excited barking, scale of leg lifting seen and other fun had in Scotland!

    2. Thanks for the tip! Bertie and I had a good experience in the Cambridge Bar in Edinburgh last year: http://bouncingbertie.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/a-change-of-scene-for-inspector-rebus.html
In fact we do find Scotland's capital a particularly dog-friendly city.
      Cheers, Gail.

  15. Dear Bertie,

You are a very Smart Dog. We think you should brew some Dog Beer and you would get rich! Your picture could be on it, and then you'd be to be the ambassador for sure!

We have a pub that brews Dog Beer here where we live. This comes from a byproduct of the People Beer. We tried it once. It was okay.

Ojo sometimes gets sips of the People Beer, but I do not like it. You are not missing much!
