Romping in the Aberdeenshire hills

Are we too late for the LLB Gang's Nature Friday?

You won't believe this but today we actually had sunshine almost all day!

And it was even (sort of) warm...

In Scotland one learns to seize the moment, and so Gail took me for a long walk in the hills. We did the Pressendye circuit - nine miles, and wonderful views the whole way round.

It rather goes against my principles, but Gail is insisting that for once I let the pictures do the talking...

Happy Nature Friday friends!

Aberdeenshire highlights

Gosh I am sorry I haven't been around much these past few days, but between you and me, I must say I have been run off my compact little paws showing Gail's friend Janet (the Nottingham one) around all my favourite Aberdeenshire haunts.

Every visitor to these parts has to go to Dunnottar Castle where I was delighted to discover that, in addition to all the interesting (to some) history about hiding the Crown Jewels of Scotland from Oliver Cromwell etc. etc., they also now have a kiosk selling yummy ice cream.

A tour around the gardens of Crathes Castle is also a must, so I dutifully allowed Gail and Janet to wander off to look at all the flowers while I waited patiently in the car.

Rules for dogs are not so strict at the Forvie Sands Nature Reserve. The regulations are clearly stated on a noticeboard at the entry point, which I think is polite.

No trip to this part of the world is complete without ascent of Bennachie to inspect the Pictish hill fort, and I am pleased to report that, once I had gently reminded Janet that quality tour guides expect rewards, she duly delivered the goods.

Finally, back home in the evenings, I was able to show Janet the correct way to relax after a nice day out in my home territory.

BrewDog - the clue is in the name?

Did you know that here in NE Scotland we have a highly successful local craft beer company called BrewDog?

When I saw the name on the bottle, I thought for sure I'll be allowed a sip this time.

Sadly it was not to be.

Where is their canine-friendly beverage product?

I think they are missing a golden business opportunity.

Strutting my stuff at Cruden Bay

PS It looks like the Ben Macdui expedition is ON for Saturday. Weather permitting…..

Weekend activity (involving an egg box)

Since I didn't get to meet Donald Trump on the beach walk last week (more's the pity),

I pretended this green egg box was him instead.....
Quite an art work, n'est ce pas? Do you think the Tate might be interested?

Feeling so much better after this spot of imagined dismemberment, I accompanied Gail on a lovely - although damp - excursion up Millstone Hill, one of old Hamish's favourite haunts (click to biggify).
