And if you don't know the Ken Dodd song, click here

Update: apologies to readers outside the UK if the YouTube link is blocked. And of course UK readers will know the song anyway...

  1. What a great way to start the day!! Looking good there my friend!

  2. Highland Bertie in his natural habitat. Could any dog be happier ?

  3. Well... you do look sort of cheerful! Deccy x

  4. Enough to brighten any gloomy Scottish day! Bertie, soon we'll need sunglasses when we visit your blog...you are shining, mate!

  5. You're very cheerful today, Bertie! Did you get extra kibble in your food bowl???

  6. Glorious photos, Bertie! You will have me humming that tune for the remainder of the day!!!!

  7. What a HAPPY Making Post. I will be singin your song all day. THANKS fur the hoooooge smile.

  8. That was a grrreat song Bertie!

  9. The multi-talented Bertie impresses us again!

  10. You have always looked like a happy chappie to me!

  11. Bertie, you do look bubbling over with happiness in that last photo. And why not, loads of interesting walks, travelling by train....treats.
    Ahhhhhh, it's a dog's life.

    XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy

  12. Bertie, you certainly are happy and you made us happy too. Thanks matey. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

  13. Great singing of great song! Only one small complaint, this greeted us when we clicked for the video:

This video contains content from EMI, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.
    Sorry about that.

Good grief, Bertie, we are Americans and not used to being slighted in this way. Can't you DO something about that?

    Jo, Stella and Zkhat

  14. Hi Jo Stella and Zkhat, sorry you couldn't access the link in the US. I've changed it to a different YouTube link. Can any US readers tell me if this one works?

  15. Nope. We just checked and we got the same 'blocked by EMI' message. Not sure why 'they' need that SOPA legislation that so many internet sites here were protesting against today; looks like 'they're' already successful in blocking uses they haven't been paid for. Not that we're unsympathetic to creators and owners wanting to control access to their property, like when unscrupulous perps steal stuff from doggie [and kitty] blogs.

Anyway, we don't know that song. And now we still don't. Once Wikipedia comes back online, we'll have to check it out.

Did they tape the Hamish MacBeth series in your neck of the woods? Landscape & village sure look similar. We think the series even had a nice little WFT in it.

    Jed & Abby

  16. Hi Jed and Abby
Thanks for the feedback. Try googling 'Ken Dodd, Happiness'?
The village in the photo is Inveralligin. Hamish MacBeth was filmed around Plockton, about sixteen miles to the south, as the crow flies, (much much more by very windy road!) As you say, the landscape is similar. The dog in the series was a Westie called 'Jock'.
    Cheers, Gail.

  17. Our mother starts drooling when she sees the pictures of where you live. If she lived there she might never stop singing (not a good thing as she has a dreadful voice). all of moms life she has been obsessed with the UK and dreamed of life in an english village. Sigh, but she is stuck in the US of A.

Anyway those comments about Christopher Robin on our blog where very intersting. We were so upset when we discovered a few years ago that Pooh was being held captive in the US. Poor bear is so very British indeed, he should be returned to his home village and displayed there!

  18. Bertie excellent way to start the day and get rid of the weather blues!
    Big Nose Pokes
    The Thugletsx

  19. Wow, Bertie. Quite a voice you've got there. And hey ... it looks like you have an ocean there in Scotland AND mountains. Wow. All you need now is snow and it would be total paradise!
    Play bows,

  20. Oh great, you have got Mum signing now, and she is awful!!

    Great piccies!

  21. You look so happy and yes you are blessed!! Actually I think we all are!!

    Jazzi and Addy

  22. What a beautiful day! The scenery where you get to walk is absolutely beautiful.. glad you're enjoying it. Keep up the happy thoughts my friend! :)
