Not feeling so bouncy

Oh woe is me. And I am normally so full of beans.

This last couple of days I haven't been full of anything. No appetite, not much energy, the occasional bout of trembling and my throat feels all sore and I've been coughing a nasty dry cough, especially when I pull on my lead.

Gail is looking all concerned and it seems I will be visiting the vet later today. Meanwhile, I am being offered (but mostly refusing) soft food, and am wearing this harness for walks so I don't further irritate my throat.

This is the first time ever that I've been poorly, and of course, given that I am possessed of a Y chromosome, I am feeling exceptionally sorry for myself....

PS from Gail: Could it be kennel cough? Although Bertie was innoculated against this virus back in April.

  5. Poor Bertie! Kol's had it several times. Our Holistic vet recommended running a humidifier, if the air is dry and it has really helped. He also seems to favour homemade chicken noodle soup, just like humans only without the onions, when he is sick. Kennel Cough is no fun, though it doesn't usually affect appetite or enegy levels...Perhaps it's a bout with the canine flu? I know that's going around in our area right now. FEEL BETTER Bertie!

  7. Hi Bertie,

It takes a lot to put us dogs off our food, so I hope you are back to your usual bouncing self soon.

    Woofs,
Riley (who once got kennel cough after retuning from kennels (which sounded more like Kennel sneeze) and needed pills to fix things, even though Riley had been vacinated before going to the kennels).

  13. I'm so sorry, Bertie. I know I wouldn't like to be sick.

There was an article that I saw that dog flu was on the rise this year, but I don't know if that is the same where you live. I hope it's just the flu & it flies away.

    Oskar

  14. Oh dear, Bertie! That's really not fun. So sorry to hear that you're not feeling well.
Best thing...get to that vet for a diagnosis and then one can decide a course of action. My own belief - vets know best in these matters.
Hope you feel better soon. You are important to us...
Hope Gail is feeling better too.
    Sending lotsaluv

I hope the vet can sort you out. I'm sure they will.

  16. Oh Bertie! It sounds like the flu to us. As a male, we think you should be given a large pillow to sleep on, warm broth, wrapped in cashmere and massaged until it passes. Oh, and you should probably go to the vet, too...

  21. Oh dear little Bertie Boy! Do take yourself to your Vet and they will know what to do at once. Then when you come home (you may have to stay at the Vet's for a day or two to get some shots and pills) just hop in your bed and let the healing work. Poor little lad!

    Kisses,
    Stella

  23. May just be a common cold--we had a wolfhound that had one and just had to take children's cough mixture. Hope it's not anything serious.

  25. Oh poor little Bertie, we are so sorry to hear you are feeling poorly.
Now much as we don't like going to the vet you must go!
Remember when your Auntie Bailey was proper poorly, well the vet soon had it sorted.
In the meantime you must put your paws up and have Gail feed you some nice boiled chicken with a little rice, tell her to make sure the pieces are small.
Do let us know how you get on.
    Much love
    The Aunties xxxx
