Tea pot still intact miracle..

My human carer Gail is a creature of habit. Every morning she comes downstairs first thing, feeds me and makes herself a pot of tea. She covers the pot with a cosy, and leaves the tea to 'mash' while she showers.

This is the usual set up.
But yesterday morning, silly Gail left the teapot rather close to the counter edge.  I don't think the positioning was intentional, although just the other day I did overhear Gail asking my 'trainer', Mrs Munro, how best to stop me surfing the worktops.  Mrs Munro suggested placing some object, like a plastic mug of water, so that I could just reach it and would be startled (but not hurt) if I pulled it down.

Well anyway, when Gail returned to the kitchen, she found the tea cosy, teapot and contents spilled all over the tiled floor!

Amazingly, the little red earthenware teapot was undamaged.

Now I can't imagine how all this happened, can you?

Well let's think about it logically. It couldn't have been me,  'cos I'm still not scared of trying to pull things off tables and worktops.....

Now about this geology field trip, scheduled for Monday. Thank you for all your applications. The standard has been variable! I would like to commend those dogs who put up special posts - each one absolutely brilliant. (You can see the links in the top right corner of the blog, below the header). Well done Jake and Just Harry, Jazzi, the Rockie Creek Scotties, George and Ludo. Oh and last minute entrants, the five (eek!) Road Dogs. But anyway, I have miraculously procured a Tardis-style minibus, so all the canine students who applied will be able to fit in. The conscientious amongst you will want to be reading the set text, Hutton's Arse, over the weekend.

Oh and finally. I just want to show you that sometimes, even in Aberdeen, we do have enough October sunshine to cast a shadow on our cobbled streets.

  2. Well Bertie, thank dogness you were alright and not scalded.
Clearly that tea pot leapt off the work top by itself and nearly hit you!
Surely that comes under gravity....or something!
We will be doing our homework for the field trip - make no mistake we take our excursions very seriously.
Oh I think we had best keep your Auntie Bailey on a lead - she seems to be answering the call of the wild at the moment.
    love you lots

ps pretty tea pot but the only explanation for it not breaking on the tiles is that you caught it!

  3. Mom loves that tea pot! Anyways, we think a cat did it. That's how that sort of thing always happens at our house.

  7. It seems that you are busy these days organizing your field trip. Now in an earlier letter from Eric SquareDog he said he didn't care to be rained on and would stay in the van if the weather was inclement. And I repeated those words in my letter. I have no wish to be wet or uncomfortable in anyway and I will come only if I can stay in the van (you providing a warm wooly blanket for me). Now this includes getting my feet wet. I just don't like it. So, Bub, take it or leave it. I believe you also said eats were not important. I have news for you, they are highly important. Now you were concerned in a letter to Ludo that I would not take orders from you, and that is correct. Another take it or leave it.

    Cheers, Bertie,

    Stella

  8. Bertie - We heard about your Scottish Adventure from George and wanted to apply. We just realized it's already Friday evening over there, but wondered if we could still submit our application? If so, check it out here http://roaddogtales.blogspot.com/2010/10/scotland-bound-hounds.html
We would love to join you!

  9. Bertie first up, please except my apologies, I had to Google it to find out about him!! That man was bang out of order what he did to the Scottish, see I don’t even want to say his name and certainly will not mention it again, the last thing I would want to do is put the trip in jeopardy.
Now back to this counter surfing it seems to me that us dogs have the ability to levitate things towards us, it’s happened to me a number of times, but lately the items seem to be just that little to far away for this to work!!!
Which might be in our best interests, as things falling on your head is not a good idea. I know this because of the big roll of kitchen foil mom dropped on me head from a great height, when I was a little pup!! I tell yea me and foil don’t get on!!
See Yea Next Week, I have the supplies Wink, Wink,
    George looking forward to it!!!

  10. Well Bertie, how shocking that some other dog came in and knocked the teapot over!!

Now as for handling Stella. You just has to try and keep the temper tantrums in check, she sure do know how to handle us impetuous pup boy types. Like any girl! They think they is so good. ahem... I got some tellings off when I beed your age, but I has calmed down now and is grateful for the things Stella told me about being good.

  14. OH, thanks for responding Bertie. It's good to know the SLACKER MOM got something done in a timely fashion. Now, if she would just help me bark about the rest of my birthday week, that was over a MONTH ago.. And, can I sit by Ludo, please? I don't care where Maisie sits. WHAT!? oh, wait, mom says if I go I have to look out for her..geez.

  17. Bertie! That is an amazing trick you have there to reposition the teapot without causing any damage. But really your counter surfing is rather undignified. I mean, PeeWee does it so it must be dorky. Momma just gave up and keeps everything pushed back from the edges.

I am anxiously awaiting the exciting expedition. Hopefully my lazy mom will get her act together enough for us to join you in person next time.

    Slobbers,
    Mango

  18. Bertie! Did you teach that teapot bouncing skills? Rubberlegs? Infallibility? Amazing! We need you to teach us some of those tricks. It might keep us out of a little bit of trouble.

Hey! Guess what? Moma took our first shadow pics today! 'Course we didn't hold very still ... but they are still OUR shadows. We'll try to get her to post them someday.

Right now we are trying (mightily) to catch up. We hope, since your class was filled to capacity, that you hadn't noticed our tardiness.
