The Lion in Winter

So many points of discussion here:
  • Why is only one out of the four lions at the base of this Duthie Park monument wearing a scarf?
  • Is a scarf sufficient to keep creature who evolved on the African savannah warm on a frosty Aberdeen morning? (He looks stone cold to me...)
  • With such a magnificent natural mane, surely the neck is the one part of the lion that does not need extra insulation?
  • I have a matching (and very smart) red sweater. Why did Gail forget to put it on me this morning?
Hmmm, I shall ponder these questions as I briskly complete my early morning circuit of the park.

  1. bertie there are so much things we would like to ask too... we can write a big book of questions ...

  2. Goodness Bertie, those are weighty matters to ponder on a Monday morning! I'm surprised to see that you aren't wearing one of your lovely sweaters - it looks very chilly. I hope you don't catch cold.
Yesterday it was 10º here, but this morning it was 24º - we're really having some very changeable weather!

  3. my first thought was why is Bertie sweaterless? the next was who left a Christmas decoration on a lion, why was it on the lion, what are the lions guarding, why lions in Scotland plus all the ones you thought. I am sure there are more. one thing we all know, you got your walk and looked adorable doing it

  4. Hari OM
Ah, one of the great powers of life, Bertie lad, is to question things. Hopefully driving enough impetus to seek the answers - or fund the fortitude to accept that some things simply must remain unanswered! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  5. What a brilliant post! I am still laughing at "stone cold," which may also describe you two, at the end of the walk!

  6. It sure looks cold enough for you to be wearing your sweater, Bertie.

  7. Those are all great questions, Bertie. Did you observe scarves on the Lions on any previous walks through the park? Maybe someone put the scarf on the lion because they found it in the park and are hoping the owner will see it so they can get it back? These are our questions to you. BOL!

  8. Oh Bertie OMDS!
Indeed a lot to ponder on your early morning trek. I nearly fell out of my chair at "stone cold"
Pondering minds want to know if Gail had on a scarf?
Sending hugs albei not warm (very blustery here with a high of 40 and feels like temp in the 30's)
    Hugs Cecilia

  9. What fun you have on all of your walks! We love that you are concerned for you lion friends!

  10. Somehow or other we don't think those lions care if they have a scarf or which part of the body it is on. But we hope you were able to run fast enough to keep that handsome body warm.

  11. I often wonder what Oscar thinks as we put on his coat - he never looks too pleased at the prospect and yet without it he just shivers and wants to go back inside. Whippets eh.. you know some people mistake them for dogs.

  12. And, I must add, what a clever heading.
