A good decision. Or not?

So Gail has apparently been going round telling her friends how she made a bad decision staying in Torridon for one extra day, how we should have left before the bad weather set in, and how it was a scary drive across blizzard hit northern Scotland on Tuesday this week, with the car skidding all over the snowy roads while at the same time being buffeted by gale force winds.

To be honest, if Gail's fingers were gripping the steering wheel with more than the usual strength during the white knuckle drive back across the Highlands to Aberdeen, I hardly noticed as I was comfily curled up in the back of the car, daydreaming about the two lovely short walks we'd enjoyed the day before. (The day we would have missed if we'd come home earlier).

Friends, do look at the pictures below, and let me know if you think we should have gone back home early, rather than relish being out and about around Loch Torridon, soaking up an all too brief episode of winter sunshine.

Happy Nature Friday! And thanks to our LLB Gang friends for continuing to host the blog hop despite their 'blogging break'.

Golly, Bertie lad, decisions, eh? I guess if you HAD driven back on that day, you would not have know what you missed. Then again, if you had, you would also have missed the adveture and adrenalin excitement that is driving the snow drift... 8`p

    2. Gail says: To be honest, it was a question of 'stick or twist' when I did leave, as I feared if I waited one more day conditions would be even worse!

  3. Well, Bertie, even though it was a white knuckle drive for Gail, thanks to her skill you made it home safely. If it had been us, I think my human may have opted to stay another day at Torridon - the photos show what a beautiful place it is.

  4. Torridon is sure beautiful but driving when you're stressed and scared is no fun.

  5. Moly took the words out of my mouth. Torridon is a beautiful place. I know our country has beautiful places, too, but where we currently live, it seems ordinary, if (mostly) pleasant.

  6. We think you made the right choice. You only live once and if it was really that bad, you could have spent another day there, right? Glad you had some nice walks together.

  8. Oh Bertie I sure can understand Gail's extra strong gripe on the steering wheel. She was carrying precious cargo...of you and herself.
The photos are breathtaking and I expect Gail had vivid memories of them in her mind's eye as she travel on the slipper slopes and roads.
Glad to hear you are HOME though.

  9. That sure looked like a beautiful day to spend in Torridon. Our mom says driving in a snow storm is no fun and we see from a previous comment that staying longer might have meant you stayed a few more days. Either way we're glad you had fun and then made it home safely.

  10. They have been in Arkansas for about 15 years...I've been amazed at the amount of times they gets snow..however, there is probably more sleet and freezing rain but it has snowed more than I ever expected. They are in Fayetteville, Arkansas which is northwest.
Hugs and wish I could share some Hot Cocoa Cheesecake with you.Cecilia

  11. That was a beautiful day and you have some lovely photos. Maybe if you had waited out the storm you would have had another fine day. Mom would have been petrified driving in those conditions.

  13. We are so grateful you made it safe, even if it was a harrowing drive. Lady hates winter driving. It stresses her out. This year since her pals flipped the car and a deer hit hers, she has been extra stressed. Stay safe! Lee and Phod

  14. That drive home sounds like it was super scary but those pictures from your walk the day before are so pretty that it might have been worth it? We'll let Gail decide!
