How bashful the sun
In a northern December,
Midday and barely risen,
About to surrender.
The fractal heathland's lit
By gentle, careworn rays.
Shadows, always elongate,
Reach further as light fades.
A much loved dog trots gamely on,
His radiance fading too.
But Scotland's twilight is prolonged,
And he is not yet through.
Bertiiiieee... that looks cooooold... we hope we will not get that ice cream everywhere LOL
ReplyDeleteOh Bertie, that is such a lovely poem, and what a spectacular photo!
ReplyDeleteMy human wishes we could reply in similar fashion, but as usual she's rubbish at such things. We liked to read the last line - so glad that you are not through.
Love,
Inca xx

ReplyDeleteWoos = Lightning, Misty, and Timber
We are sure you have miles to go before youo sleep.
ReplyDeleteLove those paw prints in the snow... now that would make a good title for a poem too.
ReplyDeleteMy eyes are swimming with tears. Our beloved Goldie was PTS after very sudden, dramatic deterioration,- two days of tests and the diagnosis was pretty clear. She was able to go before the pain started to set in, but I am heartbroken. May your days be good upon the earth Bertie. Hugs Gail, these are the hard days.
ReplyDeleteVirginia, I'm so very sorry to hear this sad news. Sending love and hugs as you mourn your dear Goldie. Gail xx
DeleteThe poem touched our hearts and the beautiful snowy photo made it all the more special...thanks for sharing.
