Just in time for summer...

Gosh Gail, this is most kind of you to be knitting me a nice cosy blanket. Thank you so much. Is it nearly finished?

Bertie! No!

What's the problem Gail?

You know perfectly well Bertie that it's not a blanket for you, it is a new jumper for myself. You even posted about it back in January. Now please shift over and let me get on with the knit-one-purl-one crew neck.

A FEW DAYS LATER

Oh well done Gail. So you have completed your nice warm jumper just in time for summer.

To be honest Bertie, I am not sure here whether you are being sarcastic or are making a realistic appraisal of the weather conditions to be expected in a typical Scottish summer. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt...

PS The good news is that we have made it across to Torridon to check up on the cottage and, for one day at least, the sun shone warmly.

  1. Bertie, humans have such ideas... and we can inform ya that the sweater for our grampys 40st birthday is still not finished... and we have some doubts that it happens this year... no matter if summer or winter... oh... and he turns 77 now

  2. That's a beautiful sweater, Bertie, and what an excellent knitter Gail is. No matter who it's for, you should be very proud of her achievements.
Love the photos of you in the spring sunshine.

    Love,

A fabulous knit - just right for local conditions, I might say! HOOROOOO for getting to Torridon once more. Did it feel a little like a foreign land after all this time?! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

Gail has very very very talented digits!! And I do love the pretty color of yarn selected for her jumper. What a very pretty pattern too. One can never have too many jumpers.
How close to finished is your cottage? I hope you can spend some lovely time there soon.
Did that person in the 2nd photo just finish a chilly swim?

    1. Gail says: There are in fact two people in the water. The man is just finishing his swim but his girlfriend, evidently more hardy, is still in the water. You can just see her head.

  6. I know Gail will look (nearly) as chic in her new sweater as you do in the last photo! Bertie, is that your "cottage" in the background?? I recall seeing the inside, but never the outside....

  7. absolutely beautiful, your Gail is super talented in the knitting thing. I have seen some really ugly knitted sweaters/jumpers here..thanks for the reminder that all dogs do NOT need to eat ice. Beau said to tell you he eats ice year round here.. and he also says What is a Jumper? he said He can Jump, does that count

  8. That's a beautiful jumper Gail made. Even if she doesn't get to wear it this summer she will definitely be able to wear it after that. We're glad to hear you made it to the cottage. Is the renovation work done?

  10. Gail does beautiful work, Bertie. And it is never too early to get started on next winter's wardrobe. Hope the cottage is coming along nicely. We think it was having lots of renovation last time we heard about it.

  14. I think that you were adding a bit of fur to the wonderful mix of fibers, Bertie! What a lovely jumper!

Torridon was glorious! Such beauty. I am so glad that you were able to go there.
