Oh no, not again...

Just hours after my post on Wednesday came the most unwelcome news that my home city Aberdeen has gone into a local coronavirus lockdown. All bars and restaurants are closed again (so no cheeseburger for me any time soon), no visits to other households, and travel is limited to a five mile radius of one's place of residence.

Gosh there were a lot of glum faces today among the normally cheerful early morning Duthie Park dog walkers.

What to do? Perhaps if I posed nicely in front of the park's flower borders, which are looking their most colourful just now, that would help brighten things up? After all, it is Nature Friday, and my friends will want to see something other than the grey granite of our plague-struck city.

On Thursdays Gail normally abandons me to go cycling after our early walk. This week, I noticed a rather curious WhatsApp message on her phone which seemed to indicate that her cycling friends were struggling with the concept of the five mile limit.
But it seems they met up anyway, and I leave you to guess how far out of town these ladies actually rode before settling down to a socially distanced and sunny picnic.
Happy Nature Friday friends! I hope you are enjoying more freedom in your part of the world than we are here right now...

Some inventive use of mathematics (and a touch of geometry) there, Bertie lad. Which ever way it's turned, as long as none of them was further than five miles from their front door, they're doing fine!!! One of the great beauties of this Bonny Land, it must be admitted (and with exception, pawhaps, of Glesgie), is that one can quite easily be in bucolic territory even within two miles of one's home!

As for you, my fine lad, that was excellent posing with the posies in the park!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  2. The flowers are just gorgeous, Bertie! We are so sorry that you have to go through another lockdown. We may be headed for that here too if our COVID cases continue to climb.

  3. Oh what gorgeous flowers. I love the red ones toward the end. Bertie they tease you with a bit of freedom then it is gone like the wind on the Scottish Highlands. I'm glad Gail and friends had a nice sunny outing...Yesterday our Governor issued an extension to Phase II thru September 11. Necessary I know I feel so bad for all the small businesses. This will probably be their undoing.

  4. Sorry to hear you are locked down again. At least you found some lovely flowers to pose by. We're glad Gail was able to get a decent bike ride in too.

  5. Yep it is crappy when even the cemeteries lock their gates and you cannot even walk among the dead.

  7. So Sorry to hear about your new lockdown restrictions...there goes dinner 1/2 paid for by Boris. Sounds like you've moved to Melbourne. Luckily, you do have those glorious gardens within your 5 miles. That distance any direction from our house would be out of town. This, too, shall pass.

  8. That may be happening here soon too. Our positivity rate keeps going UP. We are just a tad below 10% now over the past 14 days. Not good.

Those photos of you with the pretty flowers are awesome, Bertie.

    Have a relaxing weekend.

  11. You are lucky to have 5 miles to walk Bertie, last time we had no more than 30 metres from our front door! Any pretty flowers we might have seen were in someone's garden!
Enjoy your walks - at least it's cool where you are, and you're not puffing because you're wearing a fur coat!

    Love,

  14. I'm so sorry that you are locked down again. But, as opposed to my country, at least you are willing to take the steps needed to slow the virus. You are a smart group of citizens!

The calculation of the circumference of the circle around the starting point completely made me giggle!
