Stretching Scotland's 'Right to Roam' laws?

Readers, have you any idea how awkward it is to have to wear a lampshade? It really isn't easy relearning how to navigate one's way round the house as a 'wide load'.

Anyway, by Sunday morning I was fed up to the back teeth with being indoors, and despite my paw not yet being quite better, I told Gail I wanted to go out for a walk.

Much to my surprise, she  agreed, and said, "I know Bertie, what with all this week's news about President Trump, why don't we go and see how things are coming along at his golf course. It's only a few miles away, and we've never had a snoop around since it was completed, have we?"

Well of course I was totally up for it and even consented to pose by the sign at the entrance.

To be honest, neither Gail nor I were sure if we'd be allowed to penetrate any further, but we made it all the way to the strangely empty car park

The golf resort's restaurant was deserted too.

And there was absolutely no sign of any golfers.

With nothing else to see at the clubhouse, we moved on to the Balmedie Country Park, just to the south of the golf links, and walked along the beach.

If you climb up the sand dunes you can see the golf course again.

How strange. Still no golfers, despite what looked to us like perfect conditions (sunshine, no wind, not that cold).

Then we spotted a couple with a dog strolling down the fairway, and, there being no barrier or signs, decided to join them.

While I had fun with my new friend, Gail chatted to the couple. The too were bemused by the absence of golfers, and said they were hoping it meant that everyone was boycotting the course and that Trump's venture would go bankrupt and the area would be allowed to revert to its natural state.

I saw Gail was nodding in agreement.

(Readers may not be aware that this used to be conservation area designated a 'Site of Special Scientific Interest', but Trump bulldozed his way through the environmental legislation to build the golf resort).

Well by now my sore paw was beginning to hurt again, so it was time to head for home.

It only remained for me to leave a message for Mr Trump.

What did I say?

Friends, perhaps I should leave that to your fertile imaginations..

OMD Bertie lad... I have missed out on news for over a week now and am so very sorry to read that the paw is misbehavng again, to the extent of requiring the wearing of lamp shades...and that, too, of the 1950's, "vee haff ways off making yoy talk" variety!!! If the DT has his way, 'vee' could well be returning to such times. Yeech. Meanwhile, am alli0 in favour of the turn of conversation at the golf tee :-)
Be well soon wee freend. Hugs and wags YAM-aunty xxx (with still 5 days in India to go)

  4. You did a good job there Bertie - but only the one? Next time make sure you take some pals with you and give the place a really good watering !
Sorry to hear that your paw was starting to hurt again - hope it's better now.
We haven't been out on a walk for two whole days now - it has rained and rained without stopping, and it's miserable and cold. Not like Spain usually is at all.

    Love,
    Inca xx

  8. Dang around these parts on a sunny day the golf courses are packed. Is that one closed on Sundays? Very odd. The green for walking with pups and peeps is very pretty and I bet it felt good to your sore digit. I love the rippled sand on the beach.

I sure hopes it goes under, and it can revert to it's natural state. In the meantime, DOGGIE PARK!!!!! Just be careful on that paw, sendin' lots of POTP and healin' vibes!

  20. Be sure to wash all your paws after walking on a golf course. Usually all kinds so chemicals are doused on the course to keep it green and pest/weed free.

  25. Bertie you never disappoint ~ Piss On Bertie! Piss On!
Perhaps if you visited Hawaii you could piss on Mark Zuckerberg's land. Shame on him also for wanting to take the small individual people lands who own land inside his 700 acres. Hawaii gave them the right of way years ago and now he is going to court to take it from them.
    Thanks for being a friend

  26. Crikey .... a whole golf course to run on. Shame your poor old foot is not up to it, aye?? Hope it gets better soon, mate!!
I've got a whole golf course to run on. It got closed and the new owners said we could use it for walking. I love it. It's very run down and just like natural bushland now but there's dams to swim in and there's RABBITS to chase. Mum stops me chasing them though. Big fat spoil sport!! She puts me on my lead when we get near where they are.
