Is there a worse present giver in the whole wide world?

So Gail came home loaded with gifts of Swiss chocolate.

But what about something for me?

Oh. She's telling me all about how she visited a place in Luzern called the Rosengart Museum where she saw lots of paintings by this Picasso chappie, and she thought what I would like best would be a postcard of one of them...
Woman and Dog Playing (Picasso, 1953).
Seriously!

PS There are still a couple of days left for late entries to my Olympic event, Bouncing (narrative style).

  1. Well maybe she should have gotten something a bit tastier for you, but I do have to say I love that picture (mom speaking of course the hounds are saying What!). Did you know Picasso had a lovely little doxie named Lump? I plan to do a post on their story someday

  11. Maybe you can use it for toilet paper...oops it looks like someone already did(snickers). I am sorry you didn't get anything better, at least tear it up and make a good mess with it.

  12. Someone should tell Gail they make CHEESE in Switzerland, a perfect apology gift for the abandoned-at-home doggie. As for a postcard that looks like a faintly humanoid figure trying to strangle a faintly canine-like figure - rip it up. That's our favorite activity for paper of all kinds. Now that would make an Olympic event - if it isn't already! We need to check; Abby would be a serious competitor in free style paper shredding.

PeeEss: your Bouncing deadline is July 18th OUR time, right? Not GMT?

  14. Hi Bertie, we are only sorry we are getting too old for the Olympics but we will enjoy it all from our armchairs!!
What is Gail doing bringing you home that postcard.............and she has the cheek to call it a present!
Well you tell Gail if you can't sniff it, eat it or play with it then it is not a present!
Then again maybe she will let you rip it up - your Auntie Martha likes to eat toilet roll tubes and we imagine a postcard will taste pretty similar!!

  19. Bertie I would have thought with your magnitude of educational background you would have appreciated a Picasso postcard. But I must say she was cheap in not buying you the Picasso original!
    Thanks for being a friend
