Keeping things in proportion

So I have been packing for my big train journey down to visit human Granny and Granddad in Nottingham next week. This is what I am planning to take:

And this is what Gail has room for is taking.

Humans don't need much stuff, do they?

Oh no! Wait a minute Gail! You'd better not forget the passport.

What's that? We don't have to have a passport for England? Well what about the return trip? Now are you really really sure Mr Salmond is going to let us back in?

  1. Bertie . Put your paws down . You should insist on going by car. Then the trunk, the back seat, the glove box and the passenger seat could be given over to all the presents you'll be getting .

  3. Dearest Bertie, you are becoming quite the traveller!
We ourselves have new set paw on a train - well your Auntie Martha cannot bear the noise of them for a start!
    We are impressed!
Of course it is only right and proper that Gail, as your human slave, should be carrying more things for you than for herself.
You do seem to have covered most bases with your packing and we are especially pleased to see the Mackies ice cream - such a favourite of ours.
We are a bit concerned about you being allowed back into Scotland mind you - what with Gail being English - Mr Salmond might decide to close the door!
Have a good and safe trip. We know you will make us proud with your good behaviour on the train.
    love and kisses

  4. Oh dear, how we wish that silly human would preview her posts - of course we meant we have 'never' set a paw on a train!
May we suggest you equip Gail with one of these small, pull along trolleys on wheels.
We see quite a few 'older' humans using them and it might help her!!!

  9. Looks like you are sorted, Bertie for every eventuality. Request a major walk adventure in advance of the train journey and I'm sure it will whizz by...

  10. You might go past me on the train Bertie! Shall I go down to the station and wave at you? Also, if I see any news reports about some sort of unrulyness on the line I will take them for the lies I is sure they will be. Have a good trip. Is you sure you packed enough toys though?

  11. I think that Gail has all she needs. She can use some of your stuffs if she doesn't. RIGHT??
I hope she DOES add the Flasher Beast to the list though.
You are gonna have a BLAST... esp. on the TRAIN.. since SHE has HER PILLS fur this trip. Make sure she takes them!!!

  12. Hello Bertie!

Looks like you are quite prepared for your trip. I bet the grandparents are really looking forward to your visit. Do behave, now, Bertie!

I'm a little worried that Gail might be short of funds though with only a 20 pound note in her pocket.
What if Mr. Salmond won't let you back in and you need to bribe a local official . . .20 pounds won't go far will it?

I looked up Mr. Salmond on Wiki and he seemed a decent sort. No sending out rude pictures over Twitter or anything like that. I think all will be fine on this trip. Have fun!

  13. Bertie - Now THAT's the way to travel! We are totally jealous that you get to travel by TRAIN! We can't find any trains over here that will even allow us to step a toenail on. Think we need to look into moving. Look forward to seeing some pics from your adventure!

  18. Bertie, are you sure you're taking enough? Oh, well, I guess you can buy what you need there. They probably have stores in England, too. Have a safe trip and have a great time.

  20. Cutting to the chase, your BANKS issue your currency, not your government?! Who knew! OK, techically the dollar is a 'Federal Reserve Note' but it bears only government seals and signatures of government officials and pictures of dead presidents. We thought all UK currency bore a picture of a monarch, presumably the current one unless you've been hording pound notes for almost 60 years. [A propos of nothing, mama has been carrying a 1907 King Edward VII penny as a good luck piece for over 53 years.] So who is the dude on Gail's 20 pound note?

As to the packing: looks like the proper ratio of dog to ape stuff to us.

  21. Yikes, Bertie! We just bigified the picture with the pound note to verify it was signed by a bank director, and we noticed Gail's train ticket is a SINGLE! Are you sure she's not sneaking off without you? Packing your stuff for a stay at the Pet Jail? Nah, Gail wouldn't do that to you, would she?

  22. Thank you for helping to defend why Fergi and I require the entire back seat of our car for our cross country travels. We will refer anyone who questions (and there are always lots) to this blogpost. You've made it very clear.

    Appreciatively,
    Jake and Fergs
