Empty shelves and a neolithic cairn

I call it a catastrophe. Gail says the fact that the dog treat shelves in the supermarket were half empty this weekend is a 'First World Problem', and there are plenty of good substitutes for Gravy Bones.

We both blame the combination of Covid and Brexit for the shortages.

I am now living in hope that home-baked liver cookies are coming my way soon.

Meanwhile, I'm pleased to report that Gail and I went on a very nice walk through the Finzean (pronounced 'Fingun') Estate on Saturday with our friends M and J.

After admiring the view of the hills to the south, we trudged through long wet grass to what Gail tells me is a neolithic burial cairn but to my mind is a pile uneven stones, too uncomfortable on the paws for this WFT to want to climb.

Nah, I wouldn't have climbed it either, Bertie lad... let me tell ya, the Brexdemic effect hit here on the last grocery shop too... no cucumber or capsicums... and the prices are definitely on the up. Hope your liver cookies proved worth the wait. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  2. Oh Bertie, isn't it terrible the way some of our favourite treats have fallen foul of Covid and Brexit? No gravy bones here either, though there are plenty of Spanish doggy treats, so I guess I'll just have to make do with those instead.
The cheeky kitties in my garden are getting very well fed. I didn't miss two more bags of food in with the shopping this morning!

    Love,

  3. I wouldn't be climbing that pile of stones either, Bertie. How sad to see the shelves so empty.

  4. we don't have burial cairn of stone here but we do have Indian mound burial hills. Have not been there in a while... you sure had plenty of green to romp in

  5. You have so many interesting, historical places to walk, (relatively) near you. How lucky! And even luckier to walk with friends.

  6. What a lovely place to take a walk with two good friends. We probably wouldn't try to climb those rocks either.

  8. Looks like a lovely walk, but homemade liver treats sound even BETTER! Tell Gail to get cracking!

  9. We sure hope Gail is in the kitchen as we speak! Luckily, us pups aren't having a shortage of treats, but a bunch of human stuff shelves have been more empty than usual here in the US too!

  10. Low on treats! We have no words and can only hope that homemade liver treats have been made. Otherwise, what a great walk!

  11. We haven't noticed any shortages on our treats, but Mom says there are lots of bare shelves in the grocery store for other products. She thinks it is a combination of not enough staff to restock and manufacturing issues with some products. Tell Gail that there is always the option of homemade:)

That looks like a nice walk.

  12. We went to a store yesterday and the shelves looked like that, and we saw all the boxes with treats inside still shrink wrapped. How frustrating!

  13. Hi Bertie I 100% agree with there should never EVER no never be any empty spaces on the shelves especially where treats should be. I would have fallen on my tush if I tried to climb that mini Stone pile

  14. Another wonderful outing, Bertie (and thank you for the pronunciation assistance). Of course the near empty dog treat shelves were a catastrophe! Special home-made treats are definitely called for.

  15. Hi friend, Ojo here! That is a very nice Walk indeed. Bad news about your shelves, though! What's a Dog got to do to get good cookies these days???
