Dog about town on windy day

Too windy this weekend to contemplate a walk in the hills or on the beach, so on Saturday Gail suggested I accompany her for a stroll across the city centre, the destination being a favourite shop in Rosemount.

Of course I insisted on wearing my manly Aran jumper, perfect for the stylish dog about town on a sunny but breezy day, don't you think?

It's been a while since I showed you some of Aberdeen's impressive granite buildings, and I'm pleased to report that refurbishment work on our fine Art Gallery is now finally complete, and ditto the Music Hall.

Can you see me?

The Town House and Marischal (pronounced Marshall) College were looking grand as ever in the midday winter sunshine.

We finally arrived at 'Wool for Ewe', and as I waited outside, my hand-knitted jumper was attracting lots of favourable attention from the customers entering this deservedly busy wee yarn shop.

Across the road from the shop, a flag we are seeing flown more and more often in post-Brexit Scotland was in danger of being shredded by the still strengthening wind

The sunshine did not last the day. By late afternoon the leading edge of Storm Ciara had arrived, and with it the rain, and Gail and I were happy to be cuddled up on the sofa watching England defeat Scotland at Murrayfield in conditions that one might have imagined would favour the home team!

  1. You do look smashing under the blue sky. May Ciara not cause too much damage.

Bertie lad, you model the Aran pawfectly!!! The ideal jumper for this weekend. Sure is wild. The dreadful conditions on the paddock yesterday arvo resulted in what looked for long to be a draw... then that last 20 minutes somehow England got themselves adapted... some of the subs on the Scots side did not work for us. Overall, it was a good match given what both teams had to deal with!!! Mac1 was there, on the West Stand. Had only got wet on her way to the pub after... hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx (who is still in Edin due to ferries being off courtesy of Ciara...)

  3. Thanks for taking us along on your walk about town. We think since you were wearing such a great jumper you should have been invited into the yarn shop to show it off.

    1. Gail says: Don't tell Bertie, but in fact the shop owner did suggest I bring him inside. But the shop is quite a tight squeeze, with lots of beautiful yarns and other bits and pieces at Bertie height, so I thought it safer to leave him parked outside to be admired!

  4. Bertie...OMD...OMHD (oh my handsome dog). Your purrsonal knitter has done you proud. And my friend you seem to be posing twice as proud as usual. Yep a fine jumper for a Lad on the town.
I really enjoyed the tour and the lovely buildings. House tower might be my favorite.

A mighty storm with such a pretty name.

  9. You do look so handsome in your beautiful blue sweater Bertie. It's only right that you were left outside the wool shop so that you could be admired.
Aberdeen looks a very interesting place with some fine architecture. Thank you for the photos - it's the only we'll see it too, other than by looking at Google Earth!

    Love,
