The empty supper bowl

I hope that a 'blame culture' is not in operation in your household.

I'm afraid it is chez Gail and Bertie.

Take last night, for example.

[Some context: I am fed twice a day, first thing in the morning, then again, around 5-6 pm.]

So yesterday come 10 pm, my bowl had not been refilled, and it was not until after bedtime that a certain person remembered my evening meal.

And can you imagine, rather than profuse apologies coupled with double helpings, I got this:

"But Bertie, you are hopeless, why didn't you remind me by licking your empty bowl or something, like a normal dog?"

One tries so hard to be good.

  1. We only lick our bowl AFTER we've been fed-- in case there is a molecule of some edible residue left.

What the..?! Bertie lad, what a shame the court of common fleas is no longer operational in Blogville!!! Instead, you must simply shrug it off and move into the next day in hope that breakfast will arrive!!! Hugs and wags,YAM-aunty xxx

  5. Oh Bertie your roommate deserves a good lickin' and your back of disrespect. I bet Gail forget to feed herself...YIKES I say call your union rep.
Angel Madi would come find me everyday about 4 pm she started with a quiet meow, followed by a march then full blown trumpeting.

  7. You need to take some lessons from Walter. He makes sure we never miss a meal whether it's a human or canine meal. We could set our clocks by Walter's food alarm system. We sure hope Gail never misses another of your meals Bertie.

  8. Oh Bertie - it sounds as though Gail needs some re-training there, but there really is no excuse. She must be taught that your meal times are sacrosanct and you are fed at the correct time.
What a pity that humans can't wear the cone of shame at a time like this, so everyone will know that they forgot our food! Perhaps we should invent one for such occasions?
I'm hanging around at the moment, patiently waiting for my evening meal. I know I'll get it soon because my human has just told me (she says for the fourth time!) that I have another half hour to wait!

  11. I guess you now have her blessing to ask her if it is time to eat 100 times a day.

  12. Oh Bertie! I think that you should now ask many many times per day. Surely, she'll fall for it at least once!

  13. My goodness, how could Gail forget THAT?! Your dinner! Bet she didn't forget her own dinner, right? We are outraged.
