A Nature Friday question

How does it feel to be a snowdrop....

..... in a place with no snow?

In the two decades that Gail has lived in Aberdeen, this is the first winter when the only snowflakes seen in the city have been those arriving on the roofs of cars driving in from hilly areas in the hinterland.

How's winter been in your neck of the woods?

Climate change anyone?

Thanks once again to our ever wonderful Nature Friday blog hop hosts Arty, Jakey and Rosy, a.k.a. The LLB Gang.

  2. Me and Brinley have never seen a real snowfall. It seems like it happened at least once a year (or every other year) when momma wuz in middle school/high school here (which are really not THAT long ago).

  4. We are not getting much snow this year but we're sure getting lots of rain and much warmer temps than usual. Love the snowdrops! Happy Valentine's Day, Bertie!

  5. Our temperatures in SE USA have been, generally 10 degrees F above normal. Last Friday, the high was 37F, withe snow, while Monday was 75F (more than 20 degrees above normal). In total, we are more than 11 inches above our normal rainfall in 2020. I guess we are joining Antarctica, with a recent high of 20.75C (69ishF).

  6. We've had plenty of the real snow stuff around here Bertie. You are welcome to come visit for a romp in the white stuff if you like. We are right on target for normal snow amounts for the season even though we've seen some rather warm temps (low 40's F) for most of the winter.

Yeah, it seems the whole globe is out of kilter with its seasons, eh Bertie? That said, I am not sure that the snowdrops (or crocuses and daffs for that matter) care much about it one way or the other. They have a purpose and and are single-pointed about seeing it through!!! 8. Hey Bertie and Gail and Happy Valentine's Day to you too. Thank you for you very lovely wishes!!
The only thing we have had this year has been 87 tons of rain. We might need a canoe. Our weather has been all over the charts, warm, cool, too hot for the time of year, and cold.
    Hugs Cecilia

  11. Happy Nature Friday, Bertie. We had no snow this winter so far maybe a little dusting and that is it. The last couple of years it has been the same story with the winter season. Thanks for the share. Have a great day.

  13. I love your snowdrops, Bertie!

We are having an endlessly snowy winter but we live up high in the Rocky Mountains so it's not surprising.

  15. Hi hi hi! Ojo here! We have had a very weird winter. First very dry, and now soggy soggy wet! We also have snowdrops. I think they like it better when there is no snow!

  16. I've never seen snow because we rarely get any around here. My human says she's only seen it once in all the years she's lived here, and it was gone in a flash. Just a sprinkling and not even time to make a snowman!
Our winter has been pretty much as usual. Last month, we had a week of really fierce storms, which caused so much damage, especially down by the beach. Since then it's been very mild, 20-25ºC+ most days, so we can't complain.
I haven't seen snowdrops either, but wish I could - they look so pretty.

    Love,
    Inca xx

  17. We are having the worst winter ever here on the east coast of the US...no snow, warm and spring flowers are already popping up! In February! We are not amused.
