BEST NEWS EVER !!!

Gosh I am simply beside myself with joy!

I have just learned that, before we went on holiday to Germany, Gail submitted an email to her boss. Although Gail has not revealed to me the precise text, I believe that the gist of it was as follows:

"Dear Boss,
This is to give notice of my plan to retire from my job at the end of the year. My retirement plans include spending more time with my dog, taking him for lots of long walks to interesting places, going to visit his favourite friends, home-baking him tasty, liver-based treats, sitting patiently as he sleeps cuddled on my lap, playing tuggy-toy with appropriate growling noises, gently rubbing his adorable ears and allowing him to lick my hand or foot for as long as his little doggy heart desires...
No doubt the company will somehow manage fine without me. As they say, the graveyard is full of indispensable men (and women)...
Best regards, Gail."

Perhaps my friends have some further ideas for how Gail might use her new found freedom?

PS from Gail: The first sentence in Bertie's imagined version of my email above was at least accurate!

    1. Gail's boss would definitely understand. She and her gamekeeper husband live with seven dogs, a couple of ferrets and and one horse (at last count)!

Don't furget the knitting of sartorial outfits to keep your furs from freezing over in the winters... but you have a good list going there already, Bertie lad. Gail will wonder how she ever fitted work into her schedule!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  6. APPAWS APPAWS APPAWS. Oh Bertie/Gail what wonderful news. I can 100% say retirement life is wonderful. Bertie Gail may never admit it but I suspect every word in your post was also included in the letter to the Boss Man.
Now....you need to set some ground rules for Gail so that she knows about your 'personal' space during the day and MOST OF ALL make sure she knows her new position as 24/7 Bertie Staff comes w/o pay. BOL
    Hugs and congrats.

  10. That will be lovely Bertie, but just make sure she doesn't decide to redecorate the house first, before you go on your adventures! Make sure she buys one of those nice little trailers, too, for her bicycle so that you're not left behind when she goes on her cycling adventures.

  11. CONGRATS BERTIE...oh, Mama says maybe that should have been directed towards Gail, but we think you are definitely going to benefit!

  15. YAY! How wonderful for you both! Our mom hopes to retire soon too, and have more time for walks and fun. You all seem to to do so much already, but boy oh boy, it's going to be a party everyday at your house!
