It wisnae me!

So Gail and I are now safely back in Scotland, and I am delighted to report that Human Granny is recovering from her hospital stay (precipitated by something called a UTI, with complications). She is back in the familiar environment of her care home, being no doubt fussed over by the kind carers and looking so much better than she did a couple of weeks ago.

You will never believe what a colleague apparently asked Gail when she went into the office yesterday morning.

"Oh dear Gail, whatever happened to your cheek? Did Bertie bite you?"

WHAAATTT???!!!!

It wisnae me!

Perhaps I had better let Gail explain.

Gail here: it has been a stressful ten days in more ways than one. As if the drama of mother's unscheduled hospital admission was not enough, while down in Nottingham I went to see a nurse about what I thought was a boil which had erupted on my cheek, only to be told it had all the characteristics of a skin cancer. Cue a hastily arranged visit to a doctor to learn I had a 'keratoacanthoma' (a fast growing but usually benign type of tumour). I managed to get it removed on Wednesday afternoon, just before returning to Aberdeen. The wound doesn't look too pretty at the moment, but at least I can't blame it on Bertie!
As
So Gail and I are looking forward to a weekend of recuperation watching the Six Nations rugby, with Gail fervently hoping for an England victory against Wales this afternoon and me willing Scotland to defeat France tomorrow. Go Hoggy and wee Greig!

I would like to be licking Gail's cheek better, but that seems to be frowned on at the moment...

"Scotland to defeat France tomorrow. Go Hoggy and wee Greig!" Seconded!!! Not sure I'll be taking in the rugby today, though. Small matter of curling and skating and such.

Really? it was thought you had it in you to attack the cheek which hugs you??? Other less knowledgeable folks might have taken the turn that this was a strange way to go about a facelift. We know better, don't we Bertie lad? Celtic medicinal practice often included the use of dog saliva for wound healing. More modern research confirms the bactericidal qualities. That said, your hugs and cuddles and enquiries after her health should be sufficient for your Gail.

I am glad that HGY is back in her own place and you were able to travel back to the Deen knowing she is better than when you arrived there. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

Bravo she is made of tough and determined STOCK!!!!
OMCs OMDs...did Bertie bite you? That colleague of Gail's obviously slipped and hit his/her head in Gail's absence. Thank goodness Gail was close to a Doc to care for this. We are thankful Gail did not have to wear a cone of shame.
    Hugs madi your bfff

  8. Bertie, I'm horrified that anyone should even think that you had bitten Gail ! What sort of person would think such unkindly thoughts?
Good news that HGY is now back at home. We hope she keeps well and you don't have any more crises, and have to go rushing down to Nottingham again.

  13. We're glad your HGY is better and that Gail got that checked out and taken care of right away! We hope is heals nicely with no scar. However, if there is a scar she needs to come up with a really good bar fight story!
