Why go to Skye?

There have been several newspaper reports this summer that the Isle of Skye is full up with tourists.

Regular readers of this blog will of course already be aware that there are lots of places in all corners of Scotland which are well worth a visit.

Neither Gail nor I are big fans of crowds, and so we are delighted to report that on Monday we walked all day across beautiful Deeside hills (an hour from Aberdeen), and met not a single other person.

And gosh it was fun.

  1. I hear ya... all beaches (dogs anyway NOT! allowed) and all places are crowded... to find a quiet place is like hitting da jackpot...

    1. No shortage of empty and beautiful dog-friendly beaches in Scotland - just remember to bring several layers of fleeces, and a survival suit if you want to venture into the water...

  3. That's just the sort of walk we like to do Bertie, but we don't have the beautiful scenery around here. We do go out early enough not to see a soul though !

    Love,

  4. How wonderful Bertie! Even here in remote Torridon there seem to be lots of people at the moment out for walks. However, obviously if I were to meet you and Gail out for a walk in these parts I would be very pleased to see you both! Best regards Julia 😊

  9. Having never been a crowd person, SHE agrees with you completely. Just yourselves and all that beauty! let others look at their screens.

  11. Gosh, that's pretty amazing to find such a place without a single person around. Not too many places like that around us, unfortunately. Enjoy!
