Is that a Labradoodle?

Yes, she really did ask that question, the lady on the train, wearing the vibrant/garish pink top.

Now I have no quarrel with Labradoodles - some of my best friends etc. - but really ....

I am quite often mistaken for an Airedale, and less commonly a Welsh terrier, a Lakeland or even a Schnauzer, and these errors are, to a greater or lesser extent, understandable.

But a LABRADOODLE?

I am wondering if my friends have similar stories of egregious breed recognition 'fails'.

Like, did anyone ever mistake Murphy or Stanley for a WFT?

  3. Well Bertie, you have to remember that not everyone is able to recognise a superior breed of pooch, the way we all do here in Blogland. You really have to feel very sorry for those who can't.
On our walks we get barked at by a French Airedale, and we've started to call him Bertie, because although he's totally the wrong breed and colour, he does look a little bit like you !
Being a plain old yellow Labrador, nearly everyone recognises my breed, and they love to make a fuss of me which is rather nice !

    Love,
    Inca xx

  4. Well I was once told I looked like a cow because of my markings……it was a mini peep saying it so I didn't savage him to much!

  5. I hope that the people that ask if I'm a horse or a pony are not serious!

I'm often asked if I'm a Newfoundland or a St. Bernard - I can understand that. But I was once asked if I'm a long-haired Great Dane!

  6. Some peeps just have no appreciation of the finer points that distinguish each kind of dog. My peeps were once told by a lady that our mini schnauzers were not mini schnauzers at all but Kerry Blues...as if we do not know our own dogs! Us affenpinschers are often mistaken for different breeds as not many peeps have seen one. One man could not even understand our name and kept calling us "apple pinchers" BOL Nose licks and love from Moth xx

  7. Ignorance is NOT bliss. How has that woman gotten through life without loving a WFT?

  8. OH my word Bertie....obviously the lady was either not wearing her glasses or perhaps had had 1 to many glasses of something.

Mom recently saw the cutest little pup...mom recognizes most breeds but this was young.
Mom asked...'what is it'. to which the owner replied "a dog"! Mom and the owner laughed and the owner quickly told her it was an Australian shepherd puppy. They surely don't resemble themselves when grown. MOLMOL
    Hugs madi your bfff

  9. Mom did have a lady once tell her that the ladies brindle pug was indeed a fawn and Mr Bailey was a brindle pug - What?? Besides the fact that pugs should be fawn/black or black - no brindle

  12. Actually we have been mistaken for some pretty strange breeds. We think it shows that the person knows nothing about doggies!

  15. At least she didn't say pug. We love pugs, but then we would know the lady was out to lunch.

  20. Somebody at Petsmart thought Cinderella was a ROTTWEILER once. At least you share a trait of curly hair with labradoodles. Boxers look NOTHING like Rottweilers!
