In search of the fairy toadstool...



FOUND IT!

N.B. I want to reassure you, that I, Bouncing Bertie Boffin, Scientific Advisor to Blogville etc. etc., have identified the specimen of fungus in the photo above as a 'fly agaric', more formally Amanita muscaria, of the phylum Basidiomycota. This type of toadstool is known to contain psychoactive substances, which may explain (scientifically of course) its cultural association with fairies and such like!

    Bravo Bertie!!! I totally loved the photos of you and your WFT tail searching for the fairy toadstool...and most of all the look of glee on your face when you found it.
    Oh...mom told me to tell you she meet a lovely young Scottish lady working in a Shop on Ocracoke Island. Mom asked her how in the world she ended up on the Island. She told mom she married a very nice North Carolina Boy!! She has a two yo son. She told mom
    her son had the most amazing combination of Southern USA and Scottish accent!!
