Donkeys on a diet

In recent times, one of our favourite local walks with Human Grandad  had a starting point he always referred to as "at the donkeys".

Gail and I went along there yesterday to see how the donkeys were faring in HGD's absence.

There they are in the field, but what is that notice on the tree?

Oh deary me, it seems the donkeys are on a diet. I hope they like carrots better than Gail and I do!

PS I so wanted to title this post 'Big Asses' but Gail feared it would attract the wrong sort of internet readership.

  1. We think Big Asses would have been a fantastic title! Seems a plain 'Don't feed the donkeys' isn't sufficient.

BOL! Oh Bertie, at least it is pleasing to find well loved animals - all too often we get reports of total deprivation. So glad you are walking in memory and retaining the joyful parts. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xx

  5. they must be some popular donkeys that are being fed by everyone who passes to get so overweight. Now I have the queen song "big bottom girls" running through my head :)

  8. Hmmmm.....We think the restrictions are in order. Not because their (ahem) Rear Ends are so big, but because they look a bit chubby in the midsection. Around here, the quote to dread is "oh dear Gus, your waist has disappeared again" which means my rations get cut! My sympathy to the donkeys

  9. Mom choked on her coffee at Bad Asses. But actually, it's their tummys (dangerous belly fat?) that look a bit overly nourished.

    Wirey love,

  10. If you had titled it BIG ASSES... I (Frankie Furter) would have thought that it was going to be about ERNIE.
WHAT? You don't like Carrots? WE love them... maybe Ernie loves them TOO much though.

  13. OMD, do critters EVERYWHERE have to go on that awful D-word?? It's getting harder and harder to keep a svelte and trim figure.

  14. Oh that story hit close to home. I have an elderly neighbor who is lonely and now comes down twice a day to give me jerky treats which Lee tells me are making me fat. Treats heavenly treats, he gives me something that Lee never bought for me.
    Thanks for being a friend

  18. Poor donkeys. Apparently, it's fun to feed the donkeys. Hope they are able to lose weight but still get a treat now and then.

  20. Bertie,
I think this is very unfair! Poor donkeys, they'll be so confused as to why they're only getting one apple! Makes you wonder how many people were feeding them before!
Yes, I agree with Gail - your audience could have become rather interesting if you'd picked that title!
