Lake District rendezvous report

Am I the only pup out there whose human can be insufferably smug at times?

OK, OK I admit I was wrong in my last post to doubt the reliability of Gail's prehistoric map and to suggest that it was time she acquainted herself with 21st century technology. And so yes we did arrive for our Lake District dog blogger rendezvous ahead of time and without any navigational 'issues'. Whereas, yes, a certain other participant from the Glasgow did arrive over a hour later and cursing her Satnav.

Well thank goodness I was at least right in predicting that this particular day would be a highlight of my year.

Wow can you imagine, not only did I get to meet the famous terrier 'Gang of Four' (Airedales Molly and Monty, and Welshies Taffy and Winnie) and their humans, but I also encountered my dearest Colorado wire-fox terrier cousins Jake and Fergi (well their flat versions at least) who arrived with Sally and Nina, and then finally there was Vanessa, who had sadly left her unforgettable bassetts Martha and Bailey back home in Scotland.

Happy scritchies
So thrilled to meet flat Fergi and Jake
Bertie leads the way in a walk through Whinlatter Forest
Terrier action with Winnie, Taffy, Monty and Molly
Steering clear of two HUGE Newfies (or is that all just fluff?)
Not too sure about this eagle either
Time to say fond farewells
Must we really leave them now Gail?

Oh what a happy time we had. I wish the day could have gone on for ever and ever.  Thank you so much to everyone concerned for organising this simply awesome get together.

And no Gail I was not badly behaved in the vehicle with M,M,W and T. I don't at all see why I should be apologizing.

Surely it is polite to converse with your hosts when driving a few miles to the start of a walk?

Golly what tremendous fun to meet up with "pen" friends (tsk another human showing her age!) and that, too, in such a wonderful part of the UK. Thank you so much for sharing some of your day with us Bertie! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xx

Thanks for looking after our hopeless human. We are teaching her sniffing skills but she still doesn't trust the Power of the Nose.
We love all your pics and feel as though we were there......well almost.
If only we could have joined in with your singing in the car Bertie, what chaos.......oops......fun...that would have been. Love the Aunties xx

  17. Hello Bertie!
That looked like super fun! Imagine meeting all those welshies, I'm sure you had a great time! Was Lake District pretty or rainy? You certainly visited a lot of interesting places with Gail and the others!
Whilst you were away, we had the most beautiful days here with barely any clouds at all, I'm sorry to say!
    Have a wonderful week,
    Pippa :)

  19. SHE nearly had a knock down fight with the skanky bitch on the Garvin first time SHE used it! The thing screaming 'turn left, turn left' as soon as SHE got out of the driveway was not a good start to the trip.

You got to meet so many pups. We miss Martha and Bailey..haven't heard from them in ages.

  23. Your Gail is our kind of map person. And you are our kind of bouncing Bertie.

  24. Hiya, Bertie! Wow! OurMoma and OurGirl haven't been able to stop talking about meeting you ... and hugging you ... and petting you ... and kissing you ... and admiring you ... and bragging about how amazing you are off-leash ... and telling us about your beautiful voice ... and, oh yeah, about how much they liked your Gail. We're glad we were already family, or they might not've come back to us. It did, indeed, sound like an amazing trip. So amazing they are already talking about wanting to return!

So ... when's your next flat trip to the States? You are always welcome!

    xx
