We explore a secret cove

So we've parked the car at Portlethen Village, a few miles south of the city, and set off along a farm track with the North Sea on our left.

I greet some noisy relatives(?) of Phenny and Nelly before being 'encouraged' to move swiftly on.

After about a kilometre, we pass by some very small houses and continue down to where the road ends.

I ignore a sign in favour of some important sniffing activity...

...while Gail tries (with limited success) to zoom in on a cormorant colony with her phone camera.

Steep cliffs Gail, what steep cliffs? Why are you looking nervous? It's a good path. I don't think you need your walking string.

Apparently we are not here to play draughts/checkers...

...and so we proceed down to the secret cove...

...where I pose nicely on the silvery schist.

Then Gail sits down on the rocks and we share a cheese and tomato sandwich, enjoying the peace and solitude, disturbed only by the gentle lapping of sea and the occasional squawking of the sea birds swooping around the cliffs above.

Happy Nature Friday friends! Do go and see what the other participants in the LLB Gang's weekly blog hop have to show us today.

  2. That's a truly splendid walk Bertie, even if it sounds a little dangerous. I'm glad you made it safely to the beach because we get to see some more photos of your handsome self!
There is pesky Weim. pup on our daily walk, but now we're going out earlier he's not up in time to bark at us! That's great news because he really can be very annoying - and noisy!

Bertie lad, walking the edge is exhilerating, isn't it? And the rewards of such idyllic surroundings cannot be measured beyond the heart. Hugs and wags ,YAM-aunty xxx

  5. BOL BOL Bertie...the kissin' cousins of the Twinies are interested in kissin' you I THINK?!!
That is such a beautiful trail and the vistas amazing for one (height fear) could not sit with my back to the cliff while playing checkers...What if I got excited? I think the chair is anchored well but but one goofy trying to get up with knees that are older than dirt might be iffy.

    Hugs and Happy Weekend Cecilia

  7. Oh I bet that Farmyard Manure had a nice smell. I like the greenhouse. Lee has been painting old chairs cutting the seats and putting flowers in them and she is painting a checkerboard with ladybug stones for playing pieces. So we really love their game place, wish we had the view. We need to move there we are very frustrated with our country right now.
