Just imagine...

Silly Gail has been worrying a bit about the future of her job.

Over in Torridon this weekend, I tried to help her get things in perspective.

Just imagine, I said, how good life could be if all that tedious 'going to the office' business wasn't getting in the way.

We could spend more time at the cottage, greeting friends...

Relaxing in the garden…

Enjoying the ever changing views across the loch...

Getting to know the neighbours better…

Honing our mountaineering skills...

And exploring every nook and cranny of the magnificent coastline (that's the Isle of Skye in the distance, you know).

Oh yes, and we could go down to Nottingham more often too, and wouldn't that bring a big happy smile to Human Granny's face?

And now that I have a passport, perhaps I could visit some friends overseas?

You know what?

I think Gail is almost convinced.

She's been there once many years ago and those pictures took her back there for a moment. Your garden is beautiful Bertie and that Loch picture ... Oh my!

Bertie lad, you are doing the very best work in your role as hyooman compawnion - distracting the peep from the cares of the daily grind. Bravo, this was the canine version of 'one door closes, another opens'!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  8. Hey Bertie!
Wow, it would be great to have her home with you where she belongs every day! Gosh, with territory as gorgeous as yours, I'd wanna be out there in it every day too. Those lambs are so cute. That coastline would occupy me for ages with all of that beauty to explore.

  9. Bertie... we think it would be GRAND fur Miss Gail to be home with you at all times... butt we will tell you.. there are some drawbacks. Like when she has Lots of time.. she might use it to make a ruckus during your NAP TIMES... or GASP... give you MORE water torture....
You would need to have some strict rules set down fur her. RIGHT?

  15. Dear Bertie,

It would indeed be pawesome if your person were around all the time! Think of all the Walks! Think of all the exploring!

However, the "job" thing is what makes the food come. Food is important, especially bacon! We hope everything turns out okay!

  17. Now that would be "quality", Bertie: you sure give a convincing argument for the non-work-a-day way of life! We must ponder that ...

  19. Bertie,
In your role as scientific advisor, do you have anything to say about the "power" of one small fur coated animal to take out one very large and very expensive piece of scientific equipment near Geneva! We recalled your previous posts about Higgs boson!
Just imagine what you could do with so much ""power" if Gail wasn't watching. Perhaps that is the real reason she hasn't taken you to Europe!

    Riley and Enzo
