Update on Human Granny and other Nottinghamshire stuff

(The white speck in the distance is Bertie)

Well now that Gail and I are staying again with Human Granny, I wanted to tell you about my walks in Nottinghamshire, where the landscape is dominated not, as in most of Scotland, by mountains, but by electricity pylons. I thought you might be interested to know all about how a third of the country's electricity is generated in the Trent Valley/Humber estuary area…*

But Gail says she thinks my readers are more concerned about Human Granny and will want to know how she is.

Oh dear. It is not good news I'm afraid. She can't seem to move properly any more, but the doctors are not sure what the problem is. She also seems a bit confused. When ever I try to help, I am told (sometimes rather brusquely) to get out of the way. Another doctor is coming today, and it may be that HGY will be admitted to hospital. Gail says we may be  down here for a while.

At least I might get a chance to tell you more about the pylons then!

*This 'fact' comes from Gail's 1975 'O' level Geography text book, so may not be strictly up to date...

  1. We have been thinking of HGY. Hope things settle down...so worrying for Gail. We're sure you're doing your best to keep a lid on things. Why, just taking her out for those great walks and looking at pylons must be a huge help.

We are absolutely enthralled by the Pylons, but muzzer is the one with thumbs, so we vote for more news of HGY, save the pylons for a slow period

  10. We've got our paws crossed for your Granny and for your Mom also. It's a stressful time. We hope that the good Dr. offers some insight and help as to what is happening. (If Granny turned crabby all of a sudden, have them check for a vitamin B deficiency or a UTI.)

Bertie lad, did I ever mention that my father spent his entire career ensuring the electricity got from source to house? I shall be sure to share your posts on such matters and he will LOVE Gail's photographs.

You are both very much in my thoughts (need the email change confirmed as it turned up in my 'spybox'); HGY will appreciate your being there even if it is not all fun and games Bertie. Warmest hugs and love to you and may answers come quickly. Wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  31. Oh Bertie ...... that's no good, mate?? Mum and I are thinking of you all. I've been visiting my Nan a LOT lately. She's very confused too and is awful rude to Mum sometimes but we know she doesn't mean to be. It's awful hard on our Mum's to have to see their Mum's like that, aye?? We've gotta be extra nice to 'em, Bertie!! Huuuuugs!!!

  32. Bertie, I do pray that you Human Granny does not get more confused. I think it must be a scary thing to not be able to remember and to forget what is familiar. Sending prayers for your Granny.
Now about the power lines. We have them about a mile from our home. Every few years there is maintenance, a man hangs from a helicopter and checks them out. I don't think I would want that job.
    Thanks for being a friend
