Happy 'cos it's so cold and windy and rainy that Gail decided to stay in with me this morning rather than take my big rival out for a spin.
On the basis that one can't choose the weather but one can choose one's attitude, I have decided to be happy anyway.
PS from Gail: this post is in tribute to my dear, recently departed friend Kate, whose capacity to inspire lives on.
Ah Bertie, She always says that you can't change things, just your attitude towards those things - well, I beg to differ as there are some things that can be changed but I guess what She means is,well, the weather and stuff. So good on you deciding to see the positive! It's the only way to go really, it makes life a lot more fun! We are sorry to read about Gail's friend.

Sorry to hear about your friend. Hope Bertie is going to cheer you up a bit today! Bertie, being cold means a little bit of snuggle time, right?
ReplyDeleteNevermind Bertie let's hope we get Spring weather really soon. Stay warm and dry and enjoy yourself with Gail. Sorry to read about Kate.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Sorry for your loss. Bertie, here's a big tip oh the pint on this St.Patrick's Day

Good Morning MacBertie!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right we have to make our own happiness!
Dear Gail.
Mom and I send your condolences for the loss of your friend Kate...
as you said she has left her spirit of happiness with you.
Hugs Madi and Mom
You can be both happy and sad - no need to choose ....but happy is the BEST :)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your friend, I am sure she had a wonderful attitude towards life based on your post. Our mom, also coincedentally named Kate, just read a book called The Still Point in A Turning World, by a write whose baby died of a truly awful disease. The book was all about living in the moment so that is what we think you should do, and thats what your moms friend would want as well. Chin up Bertie

Bertie - Life is what you make of it.
ReplyDeleteWe are sad to learn of Gail's friend. Hopefully your happy attitude can cheer her. And maybe the weather has cleared enough for you two to take a proper Sunday hike!

Bertie, just a head's up. We read that Gail is planning a cycling holiday in France on Angus' blog......so you may be abandoned soon.
Well Bertie, you have just asked the question that so many Aberdonians have asked before you! Should we be happy or sad about the weather?
ReplyDeleteI can imagine most are quite alright, sitting slouched as they do watching that load of rubbish Flog It or goodness knows what, but the rest of us can be quite sad because we like going out walking and playing!
Now, I am always happy, no matter what, but this horrid weather has been making me sad. But at least you have Gail and her ace bike seat, which I love very much, to keep you company!
Enjoy the snow and wind tommorow!
Pippa :)
So very sorry to hear about your loss.
ReplyDeleteHope your weather improves soon.
Hello Bertie and Gail:
ReplyDeleteBeing HAppy is a fine thing, but I think sometimes a little sadness helps us to think through things that are important to us. Once you do that, you can carry on happier.
Condolences, Gail, in the loss of your friend.
Jo, Stella and Zkhat
I like being happy so I agree with you. Be happy!!!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to read about your friend.

PeeS: on the collar battery - 3v lithium - costs a couple bucks from Nite Ize to replace - should last a while because of the minimal energy LEDs draw - according to the instructions, replacing the battery just requires sliding out the light button and undoing four screws - seems fairly easy.
Hello there Bertie! Sorry we have not been around so much but we are trying to get re-connected with our pals. We also like your positive views on things so we decide to be happy with you.
ReplyDeleteWe are sorry for Gail's loss and we send comforting thoughts your way.
