You see, now that it's dark in the evening when Gail returns home from work, she has decided to instigate a winter training programme teaching me new indoor 'tricks'.
This week it's been "roll over Bertie!"
It occurs to me that rolling over probably comes more naturally to the shorter legged breeds - dachshunds and the like.
For us gangling types, there seems to be an issue of where to put the legs.
Really, I think people should be impressed that I have finally, with the aid of extensive treat-related bribery, mastered the required activity at all.
But no, all I get for my efforts is "Bertie, can't you try to roll a bit more smoothly? You look so ungainly. No marks for 'artistic impression' for you my wee laddie".
Humph. What do YOU think?
Bertie,
ReplyDeleteYou were so quick we had to watch you do that a second time. Well done!
Woofs,
Riley and Enzo (who both still haven't learnt to roll over)
Bertie, Outstanding! You could use that as a how to video.
ReplyDeleteLoveys Sasha
We had to watch you twice...we think you'll smooth out with some more treats.
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
We think that is some professional rolling action Bertie. Have a super Sunday and a great Poppy Day.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Bertie all we can say after watching your video is GREAT JOB! We think you've mastered it very well. Now let's see the video of Gail doing the roll over....
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Lily Belle & Muffin
BOL - still better than our boys! They have never mastered that trick!
ReplyDeleteSam
Bertie - With talent like that a career on the stage , or possibly the circus, awaits.
ReplyDeleteErnie and I think you do a SUPER SMOOTH as SILK roll over...
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned dachshunds and rolling over... THINK... TURTLES on their Backs buddy... THAT is how it is with US... NOW Don't LAFF!!!
Rut roh...you've given our mom a new idea. But we agree, what to do with our legs is a problem. Shame on Gail for not being more, appreciative.
ReplyDeleteWirey love,
Jake and Just Harry
Oh Bertie GREAT JOB!!! I am impressed here!!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me wag. I roll over a lot, but then I'm down low. There's some reach you have to get down to the ground.
ReplyDeleteGood job, Bertie. Great job, Bertie!
Hi Bertie. This is our first visit. Nice to meet you and Gail. Read Gail's comment on BiContinental Daschund and wanted to wish her well.
ReplyDeleteI think your roll over is great. That cute tail wag at the end really makes it!

Hi, I live in the same place as you! It's good to see another Aberdonian has a dog blog!

I totally understand Bertie! I, being an elegant Airedale with loooong leggies, STILL refuses to do the 'roll over'. So, you my friend, should be congratulated on your mastery of the trick.
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Ruby
I'm not universeally opposed to the indoor training, but it does often involve pointless contortions and faint praise. I am sure your barrel roles are executed with wonderful style.
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Dexter
Looks alright, Bertie, next you can work on the Standing walk, where you get into a Stand and then take some steps. Once you perfect that, you can hitch a ride to a pub, and use the trick to make a few bob. This way fame and glory, Bertie, right this way!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Stella
Stella's idea is brilliant. Meanwhile, I'd say you're a natural, especially compared to Airedales.
ReplyDeleteBertie-
ReplyDeleteWhy would you want to do that? Roll over what?
Maybe if she put something stinky down to roll on...now there's a trick!
Wyatt
That was an excellent roll! And so fast! We have no idea what Gail is nattering on about, after such a great performance. You spoil her, dear boy. In our house, the spoiling flows from mama to us and not the other way around. Always leave them wanting more, that's what we say.
ReplyDeleteBertie, looks perfect to us mate. Lets see the video of your Gail rolling over and we'll compare aye? HOpe you got plenty of treats for that trick. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
ReplyDeleteWhat a taskmaster Gail is!
ReplyDeleteGo on strike Bertie.
Thanks for being a friend
