The Torridon Echo

Gail loves the garden of our cottage on Loch Torridon 'cos of the ever changing view over the sea loch and mountains, the colourful tangle of unkempt flowers, the fond memories of Hamish the Westie (whose ashes are buried here), the fresh salt-scented breeze, the, er, serenity...

I love it 'cos when I bark I can hear my own voice echoing back!

Can you hear me? Twice! (You may have to turn up the volume). The echo works better in some parts of the garden than in others - the acoustics experts amongst you will understand why.

Don't I sound great?

Oh. Gail is saying after all that row, I have to let her show you this tranquil photo of Loch Torridon, which she rushed outside to take at about 8:30 pm on Sunday evening, braving the clouds of wee midgies.

You can have too much peace and quiet Gail.

  1. Bertie - Tranquility is always best when it's accompanied by a happy bark.

  2. Yes Bertie, I could hear your echo. What a beautiful spot. And Gail, that shot is stunning!

  3. Bertie, we can't believe there's much peace and quiet with you around! Beautiful sunset.

    XXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella

    We could hear the echo!

  4. So beautiful and peaceful. We all heard you barking, Bertie, and we all barked back at ya. Did you hear us???

  5. We heard you barking and we howled back!LOL

  6. What a beautiful sunset! Occasionally one must post a dog-free photo!!

  7. Wow Bertie, I heard the echo, echo, echo, bet they can hear you far and wide with the lovely bark you have, great to hear it I can see you enjoy the place as much as Gail.
That sun set absolutely beautiful tell Gail she should do her own calendar with photos of you and the beautiful countryside, mom does they make a great personal Christmas presents, oh no did I say Christmas!!!
    Have a good week
    See Yea George xxx

  8. Hey Bertie!

  9. Buzzy and the Pip loved hearing Berties woofs. Both came wide awake out of their afternoon snoozes and snorkled the laptop.

Such a beautiful sunset - it tugged at my heart. We were planning another trip over this fall but now it must wait until spring. *sigh*

  10. That's really stunning & I went crazy looking for you while my mom person played the video! I'm a dog that likes the sound of his own voice also.

    Nubbin wiggles,

  11. Oh Bertie what a besutiful garden you have!

I have to agree with you though, what is peace without a bark or 3!

Mom's says that the pic of the Loch is just lovely!

    woos, Tessa

  12. I don't think I have ever seen quite so beautiful a sunset as yours on Loch Torridon! Well worth crawling through the midges!

  13. Hi Bertie, I heard you bark too. That last picture is so beautiful. The colours are amazing. What a lovely place to stay. No worries, and love, Stella

  14. OK, now I listened and I am worried that the whole echo thing is a scam. I never heard of such a thing. You are not a van brillo twist. I suspect there are WFT's lurking across the way taunting you.

P.S. Momma says she heard the echo and it was indeed your voice coming back, but who believes anything she says?

  15. OMD Bertie! I would be in little sheltie heaven. I love barking just as much as I love anything else and that would be just perfect!
Mum says the sky looks so pretty, we is coming to Scotland on saturday, up in the Argyll part this time, and she hopes the weather improves by then!

  16. What a beautiful, tranquil location! We have to share Mango's skepticism, though; how do you know those are your barks echoing back and not some other WFT's barks? Maybe Gail should do a voiceprint for you?
