So happy that things are back to normal ...

Well nearly, anyway.

I was let out of 'camp' this morning. I have to tell you I was ever so slightly miffed to learn that Gail had been back from hospital since Saturday, but I was so pleased to be home too I wasn't going to make a big deal about it.

She keeps singing the praises of something called 'keyhole surgery'. I don't know about that but I can tell you she has a bruise around her belly button more colourful than the fall foliage in a New England forest.

Oh, I am being told to change the subject, as some of my readers may be of sensitive disposition....

Well let me tell you, we are gearing up for Saturday's big Rugby World Cup game, Scotland versus England!

Meanwhile, I am going for walks in the park with a nice lady called Sheila, 'cos, can you believe, Gail has suddenly turned all lazy. (She is pretending it has something to do with the belly button thing).

  1. Well I hope the keyhole fixes itself up & Gail can be back to walking you in no time!

I thought keyholes were for doors...

  3. We're so happy you're home (we spent 12 days in camp ourselves, so we can empathize). And we're delighted that Gail is home and doing well. Tell her that our grandpa - now retired from 45 years of OB/GYN - was one of the first in the US to do the "belly button thing" - laparoscopy - on his patients. It's evolved a lot since then too.

Wirey woofs to you and gentle hugs to Gail!

  8. Hi Bertie, did your mum give you the key to her belly and can you look through the key hole? Wow sounds confusing. Mum's are funny at times aren't they. Take care.

  13. Hi Bertie,

I'm glad you and Gail are both back home, and things are getting back to normal. It won't be long until you are a lap dog again. I was very impressed with your balancing on Gails's legs, although I'm not sure it is a safe place to be while she is watching rugby.

Woofs (and an extra couple of woofs for your team to do well on Saturday),

  15. Good thing about the key hole thing is Gail will be up and hiking very soon!

Who are you barracking for in the Scotland vs England game? Or are you just hedging your bets.

  16. We are glad to know that the keyhole is repairing itself. It looks like you are being very attentive. When Mom had some surgery, only Lilly was allowed on the bed with her because the rest of us were too bouncy!! Be good young Bertie and don't bounce on Gail - she is still a bit fragile, but soon she be back as good as new again.

  19. Great news you are both back. Horatio has been pestering me all week to check the blog if you are back. Can empathise with the belly button thing. I remember discovering how much you need your core muscles! It will get better though. Bet having Bertie there is cheering you up.

  20. Hope you're feeling better soon. Glad to see Bertie is enjoying being back at home!

Flo and I will be cheering Scotland on down here in Darwin too... what is it they have to win by, is it 8 points or something? Fingers crossed. Hope my neighbours are ready for the renditions of Flower of Scotland!

  21. Welcome home! We're happy to see you both survived, and that Bertie is considerately lying on Gail's legs instead of her lap, and that Gail has thoughtfully provided a pillow to support Bertie's back/rear end. Just don't kick out during the rugby, Bertie!
