"Now Bertie, you won't be doing that when we visit Granny and Grandad's will you?"
"Bertie you must remember to be very quiet because my father just hates yappy dogs."
"Bertie you must realise that the human grandparents aren't used to puppies and they won't understand the difference between a friendly nibble and a nasty bite."
"Bertie, your Granny won't want her pale coloured summer trousers decorated with a pattern of muddy paws."
"Bertie, if you see a plate of scones temptingly laid out on a lace tablecloth*, DON'T YOU DARE GO ANYWHERE NEAR!"
And finally:
"Bertie, when we're in Nottingham, I am afraid that we won't be able to devote much time to your blog, so you'd better warn your pals that they may not be hearing much from you over the next week or so".
So I admit I am just a little apprehensive about this visit down south to England.
We head off later today. Wish me luck!

Bertie,
ReplyDeleteYour Granddad and Granny will be so busy seeing how happy you make Gail to worry about any puppy behaviour you still have! Gail just wants you to make a good impression - but all you have to do is look cute (and that's easy for you!). Have a great time and we look forward to reading about your holiday when you get back to doggy blog land.
Woofs,
Riley
Oh I understand how upset Granny must have been. On the same time, the story makes me laugh. Sure I should not admit that to you :-)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, i'm sure your cuteness will win them over.
We know your grandparents will be so happy to see the both of you they will forgive almost any indiscretion - if it doesn't involve scones, that is.
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Ruairi
We agree. The cuteness factor is definitely your trump card!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a good time -- we'll miss you -- but will think about you enjoying a scone or two (but not those laid out on that lace tablecloth).
Wirey love,
Jake and Just Harry

Oh Bertie!
ReplyDeleteJust have a good time, you know the scone story has provided your family with laughs for years now and I think you should come up with something funny too. Perhaps not scones and lace table cloths, but you can figure out something, I am sure!
Have fun and we'll look forward to you getting home to spill the beans!
Kisses,
Stella
Have a wonderful trip...and good luck to ya!
ReplyDeleteI know you'll be a good doggie ( like all Wire's are-hehehe).
Your buddy,
Bocci
Bertie - don't you worry. there's nothing you can do that human grandparents won't have seen a million times before. What's the odd nip amongst family ? One of life's overlooked facts - human pups are infinitely more trouble ( and expensive ) than canine ones. Just wait until you are a teenager - then the fun starts.
ReplyDeleteOm my Bertie!! Its the humans you need to keep an eye on. Good luck kid
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
That's funny, mom's been saying the same things to me, I'm seeing my other grand peeps next Saturday which will be the first time, the way I look at it your only a pup once, and I am sure they will under stand. Well I hope so.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week.
See Yea George xxx
Hi Bertie!
ReplyDeleteGood luck meeting the grandpawents, pretty scary huh.
I seem to have missed so much. I needs to put you in my reader thingy so I know when you has posted. You seem to be doing very well at the posing in pretty places thing! Well done on cheering Gail up when thinking about Hamish AND I is so with you on that England thing!
~lickies, Ludo
Meeting the relos can be a stressful situation. You just aren't expected to be yourself.
ReplyDeleteHey, if they leave scones and other yummy stuff down low, whose fault is that? Just don't pull a boiling pot of tea down on you.
We're sure as soon as you do one of your puppy snuggles, anything will be forgiven. Have fun. We look forward to hearing about your adventures south of the border.

Oh boy, we can't wait to hear how your visit went. With all those warnings in your head, you must be one confused pup. That now paw prints on the clothes one would be very hard for us, and why can't you help yourself to just one scone from the plate if they're within reach? Humans!
ReplyDeleteI used to get that same lecture when people came for a visit, but now I just sleep, so enjoy your bounciness while you are young. I bet those grands are having a blast with you!
ReplyDeleteLicks and wags...
Tucker
Bertie. We suggest you give Gail a bit of a lecture. Let her know that you are in charge of humor, comic relief, excuses for respites, and providing all the cute and loveable antics that she'll (and everyone else'll) want and need. That's what puppies do best. Especially WFT puppies. We know you'll excel. And if there are a few transgressions, well, too bad. Help everybody put them in perspective.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be thinkin' about you. Hoping there are at least some scone crumbs to snarf up.
Love
Jake and Fergs and Family
Bertie my boy. Don't worry forget everything gail told you. You'll ahve a smashing time impressing the grands with your wiry wagging ways and your foxy frolics.
ReplyDeleteThen when tea time rolls around bark politely for teacakes, a nice Victoria Sandwich and shortbread biscuits. Served on the floor puppy please. Cos your springs can't extend to the table yet. Don't whatever you do, bark for scones.Snort. Giggle. Do excuse me Bertie, was remembering my dear Hamish and his tea time tale. Haaaa!!!
And Bertie. One bark of advice from your doting Uncle E. Give 'em perfect puppy smiles EVERY time one of your grands asks you where you wheels went.
Wiry loves your Uncle Eric xxxx
I think prison has less rules than visiting your grandparents...
ReplyDeleteOh bowWowzer Bertie! A visit to your grans should be tons of fun. They'll get used to your puppiness and probably give you good treats! We'll miss you and send pawerful wishes that you have a great time to this England place. (Our gran is 2000 miles away so we'll probably never meet her.)
