Core stability

It's been nearly a year now that, along with Gail, I've been attending online Pilates classes, and I want you to know that I am feeling the benefit.

All those workouts for the deep abdominals have done wonders for my core stability, and this comes in useful in the most unexpected circumstances.

For example, when your human stops for a break on a breezy hillside, and gives you a chewy treat to enjoy while she admires the view, it is important to be able to stand firm and not lose your footing as you are buffeted by the wind, as I demonstrate in the little video clip below.

I will admit I have not yet quite got the hang of the Pilates pelvic floor strengthening routine, as might be deduced from the number of times I pause to decorate the heather on the way down...

A convert?

It is an unfortunate but true fact (and in no way fake news) that some human beings are not 'dog people'.

This does not necessarily mean they are bad people.

Maybe they had bad experiences when young. Or perhaps in some, an innate fear of wolves is hard wired from pre-historic times.

Or could it simply be that they have not yet had the pleasure of spending time in the company of a certain Bouncing wire-haired fox terrier?

I only ask because a couple of days ago Gail received this very nice thank you card from one of our recent American visitors.

I hope you can read what it says inside.  I'll just show you the first - and obviously most important - bit.

Gail, where is my Gold Star and my lamb bone treat?

decidedly delish...

Oh I have something very exciting to report today.

A posh new shop especially for dogs has opened, and it is only about a half mile walk from our home.

Although my poorly paw is still not better, I persuaded Gail that I could hobble there, if allowed to go very slowly and sniff everything en route.

It was a bit unfortunate that when we eventually arrived we found there was another pup, apparently of uncertain temperament, inside the shop and being fitted for a fancy harness.

So I agreed, just this once, to wait patiently outside, while Gail checked the place out. I did have the foresight to impose the strict condition that she was not to come out again without having bought me a very special and expensive (because I'm worth it) treat.

I am delighted to report that the buffalo jerky from 'decidedly dogs' was Decidedly Delicious.
