The drama of our February weather has given way to dreary grey skies so far this month.
Despite the gloom, on Wednesday afternoon Gail took me for a walk in Kirkhill Forest, near Aberdeen Airport.
I paused to pose amid the ferns and mosses, although even these have lost their usual vibrant green just now.
We pressed on up Tyrebagger Hill to the little stone tower...
... where Gail climbed up to the viewing platform, but I resolutely refused to join her.
I had better things to do.
Gail claimed there was a "splendid view" from up the top, and resurrected one of Human Grandad's favourite phrases. "Bertie, I can even see a few patches of brightness in the distance".
Can you see brightness? No, me neither. Even after our best endeavours twiddling the image manipulation knobs on Gail's smart phone later hardly made for a convincing case.
Happy Nature Friday friends! I hope you've been enjoying a little bit of brightness in your part of the planet this week.
we dogs can see brightness efurrywhere...in every walk, right?
ReplyDeleteTake heart, Bertie, it's grey and miserable here too - a very poor start to March. You are such a lucky boy to have so many places to walk, even when there are so many restrictions.
ReplyDeleteMy human says she can see what Gail means - it is definitely brighter in patches, but a long way away. Still, you know what humans are like - they see some funny things sometimes!
Love,
Inca xx
Love the stone tower and your view and brightness is just beautiful but I'm with you, Bertie. I'd rather be sniffin'.
ReplyDeleteyou would love our patches of brightness, we have brighness with patches of clouds. I would have stayed on the terra firma with you, Bertie, I don't do heights. but that is a spectacular view from up there and I do see a little patch of brightness.. my favorite photo today is you and that beautiful stone tower.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice walk even if it isn't real bright. We have loads of sunshine, but it is totally ugly out with all the melting, dirt and puddles. March is simply a mess every year.
ReplyDeleteBertie what a splendid trek indeed. You and Gail, (just like Bryan and I) are rediscovering trails we had long since forgotten. What a fine tower.. I would have been inclined to join Gail. However, I can surely see you had impawtant peemail to read. I do see a bit of brightness.
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend and Hugs to you and your devoted Gail

ReplyDeleteHmmm, 'brightness' as in a relief from the intense gloom, pawhaps!!! Just a patch or two. One must take the optimism where it presets itself, Bertie lad. Meanwhile, here in the den of the Hutch, I've had to resort to putting the wee heater on, it's that dashed cold!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
We see the brightness, Bertie. Thanks for taking us along on your walk. That looks like a great place to do lots of sniffing.
ReplyDeleteWe're with you Bertie...we would have stayed with four paws on the ground. Our Mama sure does love the brick on the tower, along with the views!!
ReplyDeleteHi friend, Ojo here! Who needs brightness when there are Good Smells around? That looks like a Walk with many Good Smells!
ReplyDeleteHello Bertie. Wow! What a wonderful place you live! We loved the pictures. Thanks for visiting us at our blog, The Daily Bone. Hope to see you again soon.
ReplyDeleteWe always love seeing the nature in your area because it is so different from here. We don't think we would have climbed up there that platform either. Going up wouldn't be so bad but coming down could be scary.

I agree. Why climb stairs if there is not a bed, or food, at the top.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I thinks I would stay at the bottom too Bertie....that's a kerazy peep thing to climb all those stairs to just stare...BOL!!!
ReplyDeleteThough, I DO see the brightness! very cool pics!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Bertie, it looks like quite an adventure, even without full sun!
ReplyDeleteLooked like the perfect day for a walk. That tower view is stunning!
ReplyDeleteWe see the patches of brightness coming! What a great spot and tower.
ReplyDeleteIt may be grey, but any walk is a good walk, right?
