Something to do with yesterday's UK General Election result, I understand.
I tried to cheer her up with a link to the now traditional pictures of Dogs at Polling Stations, but that isn't working.
I tried taking her out for a walk but she complained that it is cold, grey, windy and wet. (Actually, she's right about that.)
I tried 'posing nicely' for her in my best Christmas bandana.
But all to no avail.
And now I am feeling bad too, failing in my role as official cheerer-upper.
Do you have any ideas that might help?
maybe we with being the caninidat for the next election? I'm sure with you behind da wheel efurrything would be better...
ReplyDeleteChristmas cookies! You can help in the kitchen and be the official test taster, Bertie!
ReplyDeleteYou need to pin her down and start licking her face. That ALWAYS makes Momma start cheering me on. "Matilda!"
ReplyDeleteBertie,
ReplyDeleteBOL BOL BOL I like Matilda's idea...but that might be a wee bit hard for you since you aren't as big as Matilda.
Maybe you could suggest to Gail that she go thru some of her very lovely vacation photos of the sunny bike excursions...or perhaps reminded her of how funny Hamish looked on Human Grandma's lovely crocheted table. I purrsonally love your table top Tree and all the lovely critters around it.
BTW your bandanna is quite lovely
Hugs Cecilia
You have tried your best Bertie. We have a similar problem with cheering up our peeps over the constant din from our president's Twitter account.
ReplyDeleteYou may need to take strong measures Bertie.. We think she may need to turn off all media outlets. Maybe take a trip with you to a place where news can't reach her. Then, let her have all the pets and snuggles with you she wants.
ReplyDeleteDog snuggles always cure what's ailing our Mama!

Ice cream....we think ice cream makes things more bearable! We saw LOTS of dogs at the polling booths on the news. Here we have sausage sizzles.
ReplyDeleteGosh, sausage sizzles! If we had them at the polling stations in the UK, then even more dogs would surely come along.
DeleteYou started a trend. I saw a lot of pictures of dogs at the polls yesterday, including the one belonging to your big, fat, foolish leader. Our big, fat foolish leader doesn't own a dog.
ReplyDeletewe would think that lots of doggy kisses would do the trick

Oh Bertie, when I heard the results, I just knew this would happen to your Gail! Wells, when our fat a$$hat took office, I tried to cheer Ma up with all kinds of tricks and even shared my freeze dried chicken with her, butts that didn't do any good eithers. I do likes the IScream and cookies idea. Who can frown when you gots a chocolate chip cookie in your paws???? (no chocolate for us thou...☺)
ReplyDeleteOh, and Ma looooooved the polling pics! Especially the furst one with the Airedale! don't see many of those here! BOL

ReplyDeleteOh Bertie lad... I wish I could help, but am in my own slump... hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
We wish we could think of something. Lady mentioned eggnog may at least take the sting away!
ReplyDeleteMove to another country - one that will stay in the EU?
ReplyDeleteLove,
Inca xx
Bertie, In times like these suggest Gail has a wee dram or two (for medicinal purposes) of the golden liquid she keeps in glass bottles while you lie on her lap reminding her you are by her side to love and be with her through these changing times. Also suggest she pats your furs lots as that always seem to calm the one who loves me when she is upset about things. Woofs, Riley
ReplyDeleteDear Bertie,
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine how you looking so handsome in your Christmas bandanna is failing to cheer up your person! Does she wear glasses? Perhaps she cannot see you properly? Because, truly, anyone who takes a good look at you would surely be cheered up indeed!
Licks,
Cobi
We are sorry that you couldn't cheer up your mom. It's a hard time here too in the states, some time we have tell our mom to STOP reading the paper and cursing and to take us for a walk without listening to her political podcasts! That seems to do the trick!
