I am so put out I can barely compose myself, even a day after discovering the shocking news.
Can you believe it? I went to vist Human Granny yesterday and found there was ANOTHER DOG in residence at her care home.
In residence you understand, not just visiting! Danny, he's called, a ten year old Shih Tzu, and he's been there for a month with his owner Doreen.
I went to say hello to him and he just growled at me, guarding his bowl of food. And I was only trying to be friendly. And then, to cap it all, it was ME (innocent little me) who was banished to Human Granny's bedroom while Danny boy continued to lord it over the communal sitting room, where the treats are to be found.
What's to be done?
PS Pleased to report we found Human Granny in good spirits. She moves ever more slowly and has become rather wobbly, but Gail says her positive attitude and refusal to feel sorry for herself sets an example I would do well to follow should my paw problem recur...

Dear Bertie, I guess it is because he is a resident with his mum.He was growling because he knows how you would steal every ones heart, being such an intelligent and adorable WFT. You just have to accept it with grace and dignity. Did you get a proper seat on the train. Hope you were well looked after on the journey
ReplyDeleteThank you, I was very comfortable and well looked after in the train, even though we did not meet the super nice conductor this time. But gosh it is too hot in England just now.
DeleteToodle pip!
Bertie.
Oh dear, Bertie, what a terrible thing to happen to you ! It's the downside of being a visitor versus being a permanent resident. He was really just jealous of you because you will always steal the limelight. We all know what a handsome chap you are.

ReplyDeleteOMD Bertie lad - this is indeed a shock to the system; I find myself torn - for it is few such residences at all who would permit an elder to bring their pet with them and, therefore, am very happy for the old dear who got to keep Danny with her... but surely there is an additional remit on the place to allow for visiting dogs' rights??? Golly it's a tough one. Key thing however is that you spent valuable time with HGY and that you found her in good spirits, so don't be down yourself dear boy (espawcially as your pawsies are so much better and, one hopes, will continue so for a long time now!!!) Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
pee ess... can you send some of that warmth up this way PLEEAAASSEEE.....
DeleteSpeaking from experience with being a visitor at such places I would suggest that you avoid the little fellow. Concentrate on HGY an other residents who love you, enjoy the train trips with your humans, and be glad your Gram is in such a nice place.

Bertie you have been upstaged by a Danny?!
ReplyDeleteHe obviously had no idea of your social standing in the WWW or how famous your WFT tail is or that you are a resident Scientist. YIKES. I think staying in HGY's room was wise...and after all you did get to LEAVE and return to a place where you are appreciated.
HGY has gumption and knows how to make the best of a situation. We (2 and 4 leggers) could learn from her example.
Hugs to you and Gail
Madi your bfff
We cant believe another dog is on your turf. Do you need a lawyer?
ReplyDeleteWe think you should get equal time in the communal area..or at the very LEAST a doggy bag of treats! HGY is a legend. Puts the rest of us to shame.
ReplyDeleteYepperz - u just need 2 totally ignore that Danny - he iz the newby an'unshure of hiz place there. You know u r loved by a lot of peepz there an'most likely they will hold out sum treatz fer ya. You just go spend sum quality time vizitin'with your Granny - she'z the one who really matterz the most 2 u an'Gail.

Bertie - Don't worry. The communal area is , well, ....communal. You however, were allowed into the HG private area. Kind of a VIP suite !
ReplyDeleteWe think it's pawesome that Danny's momma gets to still enjoy his company even after moving to the home. So many loyal pups get separated from their elderly pawrents at that time of life. We think he should be nicer to you, but he's still probably adjusting to a big change in his life.
ReplyDeleteCertainly it was a shock, Bertie, but with a bit of reflection, I'm sure you will choose to be magnanimous. Always good to hear that HG is faring well.
