"Time for Bertie beddy-byes".
That's what Gail says to me, an irritatingly sing-songy voice, before before banging me up in the kitchen for the night.
Like I was a puppy or something, when I am totally grown up. Nearly three in fact.
Tell me your humans don't talk to you in this embarrassing manner.
(And no it is not babyish to insist on sleeping with a hot water bottle. You have no idea how cold our kitchen can be.)
PS My dear friend Asta in Budapest, the sweetest wiry girl you could ever meet, is facing surgery later this week, and I know that all her friends will join me in wishing for the best possible outcome.

We've trained HER to just say 'ready for a treat?' and then we find somewhere to sleep. And no matter how much SHE whinges about it being cold in the winter here, we never need a hot water bottle.....however, SHE does.
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, bella & roxy
We've been over to wish Asta well.
I bust a hot water bottle once. Peeps was not pleased as I pounced on the bed and hmmm it leaked everywhere. We have our paws crossed for Asta. We are praying everything will be alright. Have a terrific Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
I never cease to be amazed that Bertie has not yet chewed a hole in his hot water bottle...
DeleteGail.
A hot water bottle, that is very luxe. We sleep in the bed with the peeps and usually they are nice but sometimes there is a lot of get to the bottom please. We all like it up there though and with a big bed we do all fit. We visited Asta and have paws crossed

Bertie Dear heart.....I am 11 and I still get the same sing-song baby stuff. You must just suck it up and accept it as your lot in life. MOL MOL MOL
ReplyDeleteBertie we do indeed send purrs and hugs to Asta and her family.
Hugs madi and Mom
What!!!! You have to sleep in the kitchen? I guess at least you can get midnight snackies :)
ReplyDeleteOh Bertie, we thought (being the insistant gal you are) that you slept in the big bed with Gail. How can she banish you to the kitchen like that. Maybe she should build you your own little dog house inside the kitchen. Then you'd have a little privacy.
ReplyDeleteWe've got our paws crossed for Asta and all the others too.
Hugs,
Lily Belle & Muffin
A Hot Water Bottle... How convenient... if you get thirsty in the night you can just open a corner and have a drink!!
ReplyDeleteWE know what you mean about this SILLY momSpeak stuffs. Some days we think if we hear "What do Momma's little men want NOW" one more time... we will POOP.
Our paws are crossed also.
I'll always be my momma's baby boy. I don't mind, because it means I get lots of extra snuggles.
ReplyDeleteBertie, we just sleep on the big bed. It's always warm there!
ReplyDeleteOur paws are crossed for beautiful Miss Asta!
-Bart and Ruby
You should hear the voices when she has the flashy box camera in her paws
ReplyDeleteSnorts,
Benny & Lily
Are you kidding? Every night momma announces at some point "time for pee pee" in that baby sing song voice and then we go outside and if I choose to snuffle about she chirps out to me "hurry, Pea, do your pee pee" even if the neighbor dog is right where she can hear and see everything. It is mortifying.

Dexter
Some thing never change bertie! It's a sign that Gail still loves you! And I'll let you off with your water bottle, because the weather here is freezing cold! You look very chilly indeed!
ReplyDeleteWhen's your birthday?
Pip :)
Best wishes to Asta and if we could train our Lady to give us hot water bottles we would. She is just not that trainable. Lee and Phod
ReplyDeleteUhnn, Bertie, my boy, my Mom doesn't talk baby talk to me at all. Sometimes she sings me regular songs, and I like that, or she reads me part of her book, which I love. No baby stuff though . . .
ReplyDeleteStella
Hi again Bertie!
ReplyDeleteIt is good you have remembered about the beach! If the weather is good this week (no chance) me and Eve were going to go, but chances are we won't! It was fun going at the weekend though, maybe one day we will meet!
I love reading about your country walks and duthie prk as well though, because I haven't been there for months (hint to my humans!)
Pip woof
We are astonished that you sleep alone in the kitchen! Don't you have the RSPCA on speed dial? How do you wake Gail up in the middle of the night if you get sick or just want a midnight stroll in the yard to bark at the nightlife?
ReplyDeleteIs Addie there now, or is she coming for Valentine's Day? We've been out of the loop, as usual, thanks to mama & her blooming shoulder. Jed's got metal staples in his leg wound now. We're on Month 6 of trying to get the bloody thing to heal. With his autoimmune disease, he would be ill-advised to get a hangnail. So of course he opted for a serious wound that will not heal. Photos available upon request. Abby has to have something to do to while away the time.
Fear not for my welfare, dear friends, I have a bark that can penetrate several walls of granite...
DeleteWhy Bertie you need an electric blanket ~ hot water bottles get cold by morning. Bertie I found Cloudberry Jelly at my new International Store. It was from Sweden, what's up with that. Stop by my blog to see this humongous store. Oh an I am saving my dimes to by the jelly it is major expensive, is it that expensive over in Scotland?
ReplyDeleteThanks for being a friend
Sweet William The Scot
Have a lovely Thursday... And many purrrrs for Asta...
ReplyDeleteAs a burrowing dachshund, I'm shocked to learn you sleep in the kitchen. Is it healthy???
ReplyDeleteI'll be sending good juju and the Power of the Paw to sweet Asta in Boo Da Pest. Thanks for letting us know.
You casnot be as growed up as me Bertie. I get to sleep upstairs now. I has to leave the bedroom but I sneak back in just afore the alarm clock goes off. TNP comains I wake him up by staring at him, bit it got to be nicer than that silly noise, right?

Hello Bertie Boris here. I've been away from blog land for a while but very pleased to hear that you are well and as naughty as ever.
ReplyDeleteCraig tries to whisper sweet nothing's to me too but I'll have none of it (well perhaps just a little)!
