Roughty Toughty Torridon Terrier

So Gail spotted this "cute wee Westie" when we stopped off in Nairn, en route to Torridon last Friday.

"Look at her Bertie, isn't she adorable, oh do come over here so I can take a photo of the both of you".

You can imagine what I thought of that idea.

So much more interesting to contemplate how this line of snow formed on the Nairn beach, right?

But Gail didn't want to help me investigate this fascinating natural phenomenon. It was all "oh look Bertie, there's Molly again, isn't her red and white sweater just perfect. It almost makes me want to dig out my rusty knitting needles...."

Well I'm pleased to say that when we reached Torridon I had ample opportunity to remind Gail that I am a roughty toughty terrier, and not designed to prance around on the beach in some fancy and not even waterproof coat.

Those knitting needles can stay in the boxroom!

  2. I think you are just perfect the way you are-but I must admit I wondered how our Hunter would look in that sweater. Today we have near blizzard conditions here in Colorado; thankfully we do have a jacket for him so he can go outside.
    Have a great week.

  4. Well with that pristine white coat he must stay out of the mud, which doesnt sound fun, we tend to get our clothes pretty dirty. Mom does think you would look great in a bow tie Bertie

  5. Everyone has the right to be different Bertie, and I think your simply fine! Although Molly's coat is rather cute...
Torridon still looks rather chilly and icy! I hope you didn't slip at all! One day, I want to go on a real mountain adventure, but I get car sick so they can't take me too far. The furthest I've been is probably Banchory, and I pooped and threw up all the way home! You're very lucky to have a brilliant cottage like that!

P.S. I don't mind about the award thing! Eve says I mustn't accept too many awards because I'll have to type up so much more, which is time consuming!

  6. Gail does have a BLOCK when it comes to this issue, doesn't she. Pawhaps she thinks you are some delicate little fella. It is very VERY good that you KEEP REMINDING HER that you are Rough and Tough.

Besides that... a coat like that would cover up your Fine PHYSIQUE.

  9. I don't know - I think you would look pretty darn cute in stripes - maybe make a matching mask and you could be a bandit.

  10. Yeah, we don't 'do' coats either. AND if Gail ever wants to put in one, just remind her that the can't dunk you in icy water after muddy walks!

  13. Bertie, I don't see you as the sweater type of chap. You don't seem to like to be held down in any way and I think that is so great.

  15. OMDs Bertie no time to discuss fashion or make polite conversation with a pretty girl. You are too funny. I guess you figure pretty girls are like buses there will be another one by in 10 minutes.

Torridon is beautiful place for a walk with your best girl Gail.
I think I would have had to investigate the snow foam too.

Mayoral office will have to look into the possibility of Finn Director of Parks and Recreation popping over in the future. Maybe we can make a Flat Finn!! MOL

  19. Hahahahaha -- what is it about us Westies that makes people want to sweater us? Isn't it either Murphy or Stanley who turns into a statue when he has to put on clothes? Just try that if she actually darez to knit you something!!!

  21. Oh but that little Westie did look SO CUTE in the stripes! And you looked very magnificient in the hills Bertie, definitely your kind of landscape.

  22. I think you look pawsome and don't need a silly sweater if you don't want one. I have a sweater kind of like that, but it was for a costume when I went as Where's Waldo.

  23. Why I like the jail stripe sweater and I think you would look mighty nice wearing it. The beach looks chilly like sweater weather. Love looking at the terrain.
    Thanks for being a friend

  25. Bertie-
We agree, you are not the fashionista. That look is for city dogs! You already have a coat and it's "wash n wear".

  26. Bertie,
They say that the best line of defence is to love your enemies. I say that you should demand that Gail get out her knitting needles and knit you a jacket exactly the same.
I think I've fallen in love with Westies :)

  27. Don't know why Gail would have an out of season bee in her bonnet about ruining your perfect hunting camouflage by sticking you in a colorful sweater. You blend right into the mountain winter scenery -- just what is wanted in a fearless hunter.

Yap, I'd be examinin that too :) Your Torridon hike was gorgeous! Wow! And yap, I think your best look is the rugged roughty toughty one ;)
