Performance rating: Unsatisfactory

It is no excuse to say "well Bertie it was sunny when we set out".

Neither will the line "I was too busy trying to figure out a path that wouldn't be blocked by fallen trees" quite do.

In a cupboard back at home I have two winter coats and four hand-knitted sweaters, all capable of conferring useful protection against the worst of the Aberdeenshire weather.

Although not so capable if left in cupboard when we are out walking and the snow arrives.

And it's not even as if Gail succeeded in finding a route that wasn't an obstacle course.

Oh well. I guess it's a bit late in the day to trade her in for a more satisfactory model. Sigh...

  2. Now that's a lack of foresight on Gail's behalf, Bertie. Didn't she check the weather forecast before you set off? And surely she has a backpack that would take one of your lovely sweaters? At this time of year I would have though she would automatically pack one - just in case.
Humans - what can you do with them!

  3. I hope you're not too far from home, Bertie. At least once you get there, you'll need a good drying off.

Bertie lad, best to stick with the devil you know and all that... but really. No Nordic sweater, regardless of wether it was snowing or not, you'd think Gail would know better. It's February in Scotland for barking out loud... Hugs and wags, from a very cold and sleety Hutch, YAM-aunty xxx

  6. Well, friend, I can say from experience that these things happen to the best of us! Tali and I were walking in the hills in New Hampshire when we were blindsided by a snow storm on the second half of our walk.

  7. Bertie...WHOA that might be the most ginormous tree root ball I have ever seen. You and Gail needed a lumberjack on that walk. Now inquiring minds think maybe Gail needs to hang some of your jumpers in the same closet as her coats...then maybe she would not forget.

Well done on your poses and I trust you were given some treats to make up for Gail's errors.

    Hugs Cecilia

  8. It looks to us like your beautiful wiry coat is doing an excellent job of keeping the snow from reaching your skin, Bertie. We're sure Gail has learned a lesson from this walk and will surely have some outerwear packed for you next time.

  10. Holy cow, it looks like that walk was an accident waiting to happen! What else could go wrong? Hopefully tomorrow will bring a better walk!
