We're over at our cottage this weekend, celebrating Gail's new freedom. On Saturday afternoon, the Torridon hills, freshly dressed in white, were sparkling in unexpected sunshine, and who could resist their call?
Not me!
But as I went racing up the Coire Mhic Nobuil path on Saturday afternoon, Gail seemed more interested in pausing to photograph the torrents of water cascading down the steep hillsides.
Most irritatingly, she even forced me to stop and pose at one point (can you imagine?)
Only when I'd finally felt the cool crunch of the snow under my paws was I happy to stop for another photo (and treat) break...
I was all for heading on up the hill where the snow was deeper, but Gail said she wasn't properly equipped, so after one more pose (a particularly fine one, in my opinion) we started the descent.
Further down the path, we met these two guys. Gail commented "what handsome huskies" but the owner corrected her, saying they were Northern Inuits, which are apparently a mix of Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute and German Shepherd. They are supposed to be more biddable than purebred Sibes.
Of course, us terriers think 'biddability' is a greatly over-rated concept!
Biddability?? Totally overrated!

ReplyDeleteWell-met. Funny thing, I only a few days back became aware of the term 'Northern Inuit' in relation to dogs. Not sure where, something dad had on telly no doubt.
Bertie lad, you and Gail are going to have soooooo much fun together now. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
Bertie that was indeed a fine WFT pose..kinda like the one on Gail's retirement cake.
ReplyDeleteAs for for your climb and outing you might have to adjust to a slower pace of walking...as Gail now has 87 tons of time to snap the waterfalls and smell the posies. Well that was a new bred of dog for me too. Fine looking but no comparison to you!!
Hugs Cecilia
What a perfect day and perfect way to celebrate Gail's new freedom. We're happy you were able to find some snow.
ReplyDeleteWell, Bertie, from now on you'll have to hang around, now that Gail is retired she has so much more time to spend on everything! Take it from one who knows - everything goes at half speed these days, but you'll soon get used to it.
ReplyDeleteVery fine photos of you - what a handsome chap. The Northern Inuits may be very handsome too, but just not in your league.
Love,
Inca
You are the luckiest WFT in the world, Bertie! I want snow too!
ReplyDeleteA fabulous way to celebrate Gail's freedom! And we completely agree that terriers aren't the most biddable of pups. We work best with treats and no other distractions along the walk...BOL!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like an excellent way to start a retirement.
ReplyDeleteOh Bertie, that is one PAWSOME way to celebrate Gail's new freedom!!! And, might I say, you do strike a most handsome pose my furiend!!! I've never seen a Northern Inuit...very handsome. Butts, yes, biddable is SO overrated!!!
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Ruby ♥
Those are some pawesome poses, and I hope they were well-rewarded!
ReplyDeleteBiddable? We are glad we are huskies that are NOT biddable! (Though our mom wishes sometimes we could be off leash...)But it looks like you had a fabulous first adventure after Gail's big day!
ReplyDeleteKiki and Rosie
