Frankly, I would rather have stayed in

"Come on Bertie, chop chop! Never mind the rain, we have a lovely walk planned. Remember what they say. No such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes. Look, here's Hamish's old (but scarcely worn) jacket. Cosy, waterproof and a perfect fit."

Thus I was dragged away from the warmth of the study and into the deluge that was our Aberdeen Sunday.

Five miles we walked, along the River Dee. FIVE MILES! Can you credit it?

Frankly, I would rather have stayed in.

Especially given that neither Gail nor the canoeists by the far bank of the river were impressed by my on land demonstration of the Eskimo roll.

Are any of my fellow pups also victims of owners who insist on going the full distance, no matter the conditions?

And they say us terriers are stubborn.

  1. LOL we give our coat a good mudding when we are made to wear one. We wish this endless rain would stop. Hey Bertie we were thinking about your muddy escapade on the train when Gail had to try and clean you up. We have a company looking for funny stories about us dogs. Details will be posted on Thursday and all you do is send them the link and they put it on their social media sites. Pop by.
    Have a terrific Tuesday.
    Best wishes Molly

Re the Skye Doco: There was an interview with a dry wall builder and both she and the interviewer were wearing mesh bag-like head gear to ward off the midges.

  4. My dad says we got to go rain or shine, so why cut the walks short? My muzzer calls him a Puritanical Calvinist Spartan.

  6. But think of the lovely mud you got to roll in - no doubt followed by a bath when you got home. Of coarse you should have jumped on Gails lap while muddy - pay back :)

  8. Momma believes in walking in all weather, rain or shine. I usually agree with her, but sometimes it would be nice to stay in until the weather is a bit nicer!

  9. That's a messy walk, Bertie! Good thing Gail doesn't mind muddy feet. I would have flat out squealed my way out of that one.

  12. FIVE whole MILES out in the yucky rain? How unlucky! My momma will only go as far as the end of the driveway in weather like that...which is just fine by me.

  13. Fortunatel our mom understands the difference between dry blue skies and wet gray ones. For the latter, it;s a quick trip to the nearby "pee bush" and that's it!!!

    Wirey love,

    Just Harry

  20. Oh Bertie, I am surprised that a hearty pup like you would grouse about a wee bit of rain.
