A question about hiking in Switzerland

OK, so these footpath signs that tell you how long it takes to walk from A to B...

How much sniffing time do they factor in?

  1. Dear Bertie,
Judging by my walk less than an hour ago (when the one at the other end of my leash kept telling me to stop sniffing and "heal" or "leave") Gail should allow at least 50% more time than the sign posted human walking time for you to sniff, so that you can really enjoy things. It would be such a shame to travel all the way to Switzerland and miss the smell of something really good, and with your scientific nose I look forward to reading a detailed report, when you get back to the UK, about what the most memorable smell you found was during your "Grand Tour" of Europe.

I still can't believe you are travelling around Europe! I can only dream of the places and smells you get to experience.

Good grief Bertie, there ought to be alternate signs for the dogs who wish to walk their humans at a more informative and educational pace, donchya think??! I'd be lobbying the Swiss tourist board about that. Or at least dropping a hint. Looks like you are at least getting decent weather. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  4. Yes, sniffing is a big factor! Particularly when it is a new place for us canines, and such a beautiful place too.

  9. Well we sure hope Gail gives you ample sniffing time. We can only imagine the number of new sniffs that must be taken in, then categorized!

  11. We say the time factor should definitely be doubled. You may need to do a scientific study on this while you are there Bertie; and submit your results to the Swiss Travel and Hiking Authority!
